Default Which w/alcohol inj. syst. is best used for getting protuned?

When I decide to go get my protune(sometime in the next few months hopefully) what w/alcohol system would be better for the tuner to tune with. Aquamist or SMC. I will be running a VF22, upgraded tmic, inj., & fuel pump. I am at stage 2 right now. And want to get two maps one for 93 oct and one for 110. I would like to get a strong street tune of 280+ and a race tune of 310+. I would like for Topspeed to do the protune. But haven't made up my mind yet. I know the search button works. I will be digging up some more info, but for now I would like to hear you guys experience and ideas. I'm at work so and this is the only time I can get on the net. Thanks alot guys. And have a good Friday the 13th.

Do you want to run water or alcohol? Aquamist was specifically designed as a water injection system and SMC was designed specifically for alcohol. Yes both systems can vary and run other fluids, but if youíre asking which is better to tune with (water vs. alcohol) then perhaps you need to do some more reading as the results of both systems are completely different. One cools intake charge temps via water while the other increases octane content with alcohol. Both produce additional power, only they do so fundamentally different.

Iím assuming youíve read this thread:

I thought both systems used a water/alcohol mixture. Thats what I am wanting to use. I want to be able to cool the intake temp. and add octane. I was wanting to know which system would be best used with the AP getting protuned. Does one system out perform the other in reference to the Cobb AP. I understand what the mixture does. Just trying to decide what system to use with my AP. I'm trying to piece this project together a little at a time.

Some people run a mix on the SMC. Not everyone is comfortable with 100% alc or meth sitting under thier hood. I am looking at a SMC setup as well and will have it protuned there are quite a few poeple other that are running this setup with an AP.

I would like to expand on what xcntrk75 said about Aquamist. The packaging says not to run isopropyl alcohol in the pump. Methanol/denatured alcohol can be used. Just a case of apples being fruit, but not all fruit are apples.

To maybe help answer the original question;

I think the tuner makes more difference than the kit. I would ask who had the most experience tuning with water/alcohol injection in your area. For your power goals, I would say either kit will work for you.

The real question is, is that all you will want to do? If so, then get the cheapest one with the most easy to find replacement parts, or make your own.

If you are going to keep modding and upgrading, I would say that the Aquamist path has a clearly established product line that you can add components from.

I am biased towards Aquamist since I have used it with much success. Others have had the same good experience with SMC kits.

Question

Is it true AP can only control 20psi of boost on WI/Alcy injection?

I'm no AP user, but it wouldn't seem to matter if you were using WI or not as far as control of boost goes.

Maybe it does, but sounds really strange to me.
