Default Subaru Baja the winner in the Compact Pickup Category

The 10th annual Strategic Vision Total Value Study named Subaru Baja the winner in the Compact Pickup Category. The Study surveyed people who bought vehicles between October 2004 and March 2005. Purchasers were asked about their ownership experiences, from buying to owning to driving their vehicles. Responses determined vehicle rankings in the Study.

not enough people know about it. Some think its funny looking too. For those reasons, it must not be selling too well. I wish Subaru would redesign it on the 05-06 Legacy platform.

^^^ +10000000000 on that. I really wish they would redesign on the new patform. If they had, it would be hands down for getting a new baja instead of the LGT. The reason it isn't selling is that they arn't advertising it. look at the honda ridgeline. They are advertising the hell out of it and people are buying it. Even though the bed is useless with that short tail gate. I got to talk to a ridgeline owner at a gas station and he was really upset with it and is going to be traiding it in for a baja as soon as he can talk his wife into it. Each time has gone to the hardware store and gotten some large things they keep falling out when he accelerates. infact he had some boxes in the back of his at the gas station and when he drove off, they fell out. I couldn't stop laufing(sp). he got out whith an embarised look on his face. He couldn't stop complaining about the inbed trunk. He accidently put his keys in it and loaded the bed. He was almost SOL if he didn't have help.

And there's your reason I'm selling the LGT, and looking at Bajas. Because I spend a lot more time at hardware stores than ever before. The LGT is nice, but not practical enough for my needs anymore

It still irks me that when you go to the Subaru web site even, you'll never 'land' on a Baja as the featured car.

Check it out. You can go to Subaru.com, flip back to a previous site, then back to Subaru.com... and the image will rotate through the different models, but not the Baja.

It just ticks me off that Subaru doesn't feel the car's worthy of even that level of promotion.

Because of all this and other things I have come to the conclusion that corporately SOA is really pretty worthless. Sort of semi-brain dead. I was just at an auto show and there was not even a Baja there to look at. The Subaru area was so boring!

My dad, brother, and nephew were at the Milwaukee auto show this past weekend, and they had a Baja on display. Still don't know about its demise yet though. My brother asked the sales people there, and they think it will go on for another year yet. Don't hold your breath though!! I for one would like to be able to buy a newer one some day. I hope this is not my first and last Suby. I agree Perry, they seem to be a bunch of dead heads at SOA. Mike

Is it true, they sold 300 in February?

I wrote them a letter about the web site... I got a sort of blah, blah, blah we've passed it on to blah, blah, blah... response.

Snatch em up while you can.

I probably won't ever sell mine.
Seriously...
My wife and I have talked about it's "later" years, and what we would do with it.
I said "buy a new car, and keep the baja, what else?"
I only have 31,000 on it now, but in another 3 years it will have 80-90,000 on it, and I won't take it out of town then. It will be replaced by a Lexus GS350(?). I know it when I see it, and it's probably an expensive Avalon.....
Give up the Baja? Never! It's 3 years old now, and I keep it so waxed, and the leather so conditioned, it still looks new! LOL I know, I need a hobby....
Maybe I should focus on my streetrod. It's been in the build stage for 16 years...LOL

Subaru is trying to market to the upscale BMW crowd IMO. The Baja won't be one to market to that demographic.

I actually wish they could have redesigned the Baja on the new Legacy platform.

Love my Baja and if I could afford it, I would definitely get another for when mine crawls off to die after years of use!

I talked to a Honda salesperson and they are making the same mistake Subaru did with the Brat,no 2WD version.Being in the car business i've met & heard theres alot of people out there that doesn't want AWD/4WD cause of the extra weight and fuel mileage.

Yes, the Indiana plant has 2 lines. One is being converted to produce Camry's for the new partner Toyota. All Subaru production is being consolidated to the other line. That means it's gonna be a lot more product coming off half the capcity. Which model do you think is gonna miss the cut?????
