AccessPort STX map users

I'm planing on going to a stage 2 next spring. But instead of switching back and forth from the stg 2 map to the STX map all the time I was thinking of just leaving the STX map in. What I'm wondering, is there any adverse affect to running an STX all the time? Does anyone else do this?

I did it for a while, and I didn't notice any problems. A better solution, however, is to load a stage 2 base map and simply switch realtime maps. You can change to the STX map for autocross and switch back to stage 2 for daily driving.

If you're thinking about this for fairly serious autocross (divisionals or nationals), you might want to do more research on current opinions on the legality of the AccessPort. Last I checked, a lot of "authoritative" people didn't think the AccessPort was STX legal.

Meh, I'm not worried about them. I only do about 1 or 2 divisionals a year. Mostly local.

Ok, I understand what your saying. But when you switch realtime maps does the ECU have to re-learn again? Or is that only when you do base maps?

I wondered about that too... the best answer I could find is that the ECU does some learning again, but it doesn't lose all learned information. That was one of my main reasons for daily driving with the STX map. I didn't like the idea of running a new map during WOT autocross runs. If the ECU lost some information and hadn't had a chance to properly learn, the liklihood for knock seemed higher... so, I ran the STX map all the time, and kept the learning.

Looks like Cobb says the ECU keeps learned information, but most people think it re-learns at least some stuff. Makes sense if boost targets change.
