newb needs help w/ utec remote map selector

I just installed this today and I have a couple of questions. What are the extra red and black wires for? Are the numbers on the selector button suppose to light up so I can read them at night? Also my cel doesn't blink to show me which map I have selected, is it possible that it is not working? I also made sure that the rotary switch on the back of the utec was set to zero when I plugged the remote switch in. Does anyone have any suggestions?

V5 of the firmware no longer flashes the map number

the extra red & black wires are for launch control if you decide to use it

read the manual it's all in there, if you dont you will kill your car rather quickly........

I started a LED display project for the selector switch but abandoned it due to lack of interest. Jump over to wrxhackers to see what I came up with so far.
