I had an Oval Tip on my 2002 RS; I absolutely loved it!

Here's the deal:
  • The exhaust hangers are exactly the same on the RS as the WRX; some people used to think they were different.
  • Your OEM exhaust is 1 7/8", not even close to 2.5". Also, the flanges on the Prodrive exhaust are a different size than the OEM piece and also at different angles of rotation. Because of this, you're going to have to go to a muffler shop and tell them to bend you a new midpipe that will meet up with your catalytic converter for around $100. Or if you're lucky, someone might have a pipe like this for sale secondhand in the Private for Sale forum.
  • If you're going to have a shop bend you a new pipe, be ready to explain to them that there is no catalytic converter ON the midpipe! I had it out with the manager of a Monroe Muffler shop because he wouldn't bend me a new midpipe since it would eliminate a catalytic converter. What looks like a cat on the midpipe is actually just a resonator.

If you have any more questions, let me know.
