I doubt it's anything serious, or else they would have contacted you long ago.
Seeing how long it takes things to get into court these days, maybe a witness or someone mentioned your name and they would like to know if you remember seeing anything? Who knows, don't sweat it though.

Yeah, Andrew don't get too worried about it. I witnessed a stabbing many years ago and it took three years before we went to court. I couldn't even remember what the guy looked like. But basically same situation as you....cop called me (didn't come to my door) and asked me to come into the station to make an identification. Just don't let them walk over you because if it IS in regards to someone you know they often tell you that you HAVE to tell them something. If warning bells go off don't be afraid to ask questions. Good luck and we look forward to hearing the result!

I'm sure it's not as bad as you're imagining. You said you worked in the Surrey SD--it could be that someone was involved in something that the police are investigating and mentioned you as a reference. Or perhaps they didn't even mention your name, but you are simply a collegue and the cops want your opinion about them. You know, ask you if you noticed anything strange, etc.

If it was serious, they probably would've taken you away in cuffs right off the bat .

They'd need a warrant approved by the JP to force you for questioning at the time I believe...well, i'm not 100% sure with RCMP.

I'm sure its nothing that bad. If it is, well, I'm sure the Subaru guys will want your parts..haha

Man!!! I have never seen so much BAD advice......If the police (Any police force) want to ask you questions...It is COMPLETELY voluntary on your part....No one can be forced to answer questions..warrants are to arrest and search...not to ask questions!!

If you have nothing to hide go and talk to them....it may be to help out someone you know???

How do I know this for sure?? I was a Vancouver Police officer for 30 years!!

Come on now, it's the movie we all love to hate. Nobody wants to admit it, but we all remember every last horrid line from that show.

To the OP, I hear it will be best if you beat up someone on your first day in jail - Bubba will probably leave you alone then.

Crazy. Wierd that if it is serious they would just tell you to come in tomorrow. Hopefully this will all work out for you in the end. Best of luck.

Hope it works out for you Maitland. If it happened a few years ago it's weird they waited so long to get ahold of you.
Well, unless you're posting from the big house you're not in jail so I guess that's a good thing.

that sucks, dealing with cops always sends a chill down my spine, regardless of reason

about an hour ago, I was waiting to make a left turn at an intersection and there was a motor bike in front of me, just before we got our advance turn light, a toyota camry made a right turn to the street we were going to turn onto. A police van came flying out of nowhere, aiming for the camry, lights flashing and came to a screeching halt a few feet in front of it. Both doors on the van flew open and two officers came out with one hand on their guns and one hand outstretched to the camry telling the driver to get out of the vehicle... I didn't stay and watch because the other officer began telling the motorcycle driver and I (who were in the middle of our 'turns') to take another route...

even though it didn't concern me.. it's still gets your heart beating.. I can only imagine what that guy, or you, had to go through

I hope things work out in your favor..
