I left my car outside on on Friday's mid-morning then when I try to start the engine it wouldnt start on the first try. I could hear the starter going, but the engine just wont start, so I waited a few second and that time it could start.
Then it was all well until today, it started normally this morning but when I came back few hours later it had trouble starting. It did start on the second try but it took much longer before the engine would start. But its not very cold these two days and my car is new, only 9 months and 5000km. So what seems to be the problem? Dying battery?

If the battery was dying the starter wouldn't sound right. Besides, 9 months is too soon for a battery to die. Perhaps it's a bad tank of gas? What do you usually fill up with?

I have this happen about once every 2-3 months?
It's like all the fuel is drained from the line and there's a vapor lock that doesn't clear until you turn the engine over? Cannot reproduce it so I cannot get it fixed. |

I usually fill it up with Chervon 92 but had a mix Petro Canada's 91 2-3 weeks ago
It does sounds like fuel is drained from the line on the first try. But I just went into the garage to see if its like that but all is well. ![]() |

Hard starting when warm is common in MAF cars. A friend with a RSXS has the same problem. Turn the key to on, just before it start, just for a second or two, it'll fire up right away.
Don't pump the gas!! |

I start it right away with no waiting in between. How come it takes a second or two of waiting to get it fired up? I dont recall doing that before the first incident of trouble or is it an issue with Subaru cars?

Let the fuel pump pressurize the system before starting, makes a world of difference. Tim |
