Default Flat plate vs. bellmouth?

Will a bellmouth downpipe let me hear that turbo whine more? Also will it make the car shoot more afterfire than a flat plate? I heard that pretty much any catless setup will shoot fire but I was just wondering if it make a difference in sound and fire if its flat plate or bellmouth. Thanks.

this is true, but the difference is unnoticable. try and justify spending 200 bucks extra for 2hp.

wrxblubayou - I am also getting a HKS downpipe which is why I asked this question. How do you like it? DO you think it fits a Megan catback(lower cost catback)?

Dont think ANY downpipe will automatically let you "shoot fire".

HKS DP is 2.5 inch diameter while most bellmouths, if not all, are 3". I say get a 3" dp. It will be better for future applications if you decide to upgrade more.

I have the cobb dp (bellmouth) w/high-flow cat and it's definitely louder as now as I can distinctly hear the turbo whine (sweet) and wastegate flutter (odd but normal).

Not to take the thread offtopic, but would you have a soundclip of your exhaust?

The HKS is 3" al the way through. One of the loudest downpipes ive heared and is pefrectly fine with the stock turbo. If you didnt notice, the stock downpipe is a blank plate designed downpipe also. A while ago, a guy going to school for physics did a little test with a bellmouth the hks and it makes no difference, but thats opinion.

No actually I don't. Its definitely a low rumble that sounds V8ish. To me its pretty loud although I've heard on this forum that the cobb dp and spt catback are two of the more quiet units. I see that you are in the poconos...if you are ever in the montgomerville area you could hear it personally.

I'm making over 380 wheel horse power with the HKS flat plate downpipe. I don't think you'll have a problem.
