Default Red light camera

I was going north bound on knight this morning at around 1:45. I made a right turn upon hitting 33rd Ave. It was a red light (Just turned red and I was going kind of fast, around 30-50 while turning) when I made the turn and then I saw two flashes (probably from the camera). I mean those are only for people going straight THROUGH red lights right? Afterall right-turning on red light is legal in North America.

Please give some feedbacks thank you. =)

Yeah, that's about right.

In San Diego we were having this kind of "bug" with the red light cameras when they were first installed. People got a ticket in the mail ... but when they asked to see the photo, it clearly showed them making a right turn. The government was betting they would just pay it! Slimeballs.

Usually they should throw out the bad photos and you shouldn't hear from them at all...

Same thing happened to me more than half a yr ago, but I was turning right into 49th Ave from Knight Street(southbound). I never received any ticket.

Sorry, that evil Californian again (hi Joe )

But down here they have to get a shot of your face too to prove that you were driving.

I as a general habit just put my hand over my face when I go through these intersections.

No face-shot = No ticket

the thing i concern more in ur story is the speed

i believe red light camera also has the speed stamped on there....

so if u are about 20 or sth they won't send it to u probably cause u can say u stopped and just move out to make the right turn....

but 30 to 50....good luck....

Default be careful....

Making a right turn at a red light is considered "running a red light" if you "don't stop first". Trust me on this one -- I've got many friends who've got "running a red light" ticket because of this.

It's only legal to make a right turn at a light if you come to a complete stop first.

LaterZ!
Darren!!

ps -- RT @ a red light is not legal EVERYWHERE in North America -- I believe in Quebec, it's illegal.

Won't it be almost impossible to prove if you stop before turnning in one of these lighted intersection?? Because they only take a picture of you leaving and another one when you are in the intersetion.

Second I think I heard that there is a French cop in either Richmond or Vancouver that was from Quebec and is giving tickets for red light turns.

Turning right during a red light should be ok. My friend talked to one of reps at the red light stand at the autoshow eariler this year. The camera takes two pictures: One of you crossing the line when the light is red and another one of you inside the intersection. When you are turning right, you wont show up in the second picture..

Default I should say....

that when my friends got their tickets for red-light right turns, they were ticketed by a police officer, not the red light cameras. I'm not too sure what will happen with the cameras.

DONT' WORRY
you'r just doing free right turns, so turning on a red would be just fine.
the camera works like this: there are two cameras that are triggered by two Sensors on the road. cameras usually takes the picture when a car hits the Sensor on the road + the second sensor at the intersection during a red light. if the computer senses that the time interval in between those too are too short, then the camera one + the camera two both flashes, one following the other. the first one takes a shot when the car is COMING INTO the intersection, the second takes a shot when you'r INSIDE the intersection.
and Yes the Sensors on the ground also figures out the speed that you were going when entering the intersection by calculating the time interval in between the two censors. Those Sensors doesn't really try to catch speeders who go over the limit but to see if the actual person is accerlerating when the Red light turns on. Also,Turning right doesnt' really count anyways since the second Sensor is hit a lot later because your car is turning with its wheel facing to the right. I bet you would be a lot slower than people who accelrates into the intersection running Reds and Yellows anyways.

Above are some facts and plus some personal assumption of my own about intersection cameras .
I get flashed at by those cameras all the time anyways turning when the red just hits, nothing has happend to me so far..

Oh yeah and by the way, about only 20% of the pictures being taken at the day are clear enouugh for Police Evidence anyways. so DON'T WORRY!!!!
