Default silly question about year separation

Hiya gang,

I am curious as to how the legacy's are separated in terms of model years.

AFAIK - Pre-98 (but from when?) is one group
98-01 - is another
02+ is another by itself.

Am I completely wrong here?

90-94 is first gen: BC (?)
95-99 is second gen BG/BD(95-97, then 98099 was a facelift model)
then 00-current is BH/BF, i think.........

ok, i dunno about the oldest models, but 95-97 were the same; a one piece with an amber reflector and faceted glass.
98-99 was a 2 piece (separate corner lights) with a more clear lens design, IIRC
that's ont he same body style.
On the current body style, I think it was one big reflecter for 2000, then it got a black surround and dividers on the 2001's...

victor, japanese and us model year changeovers and changes don't exactly match up for the legacy. that is, if you're asking for the reason i think you are asking.

Lightbulb yep

Legacy models
1990-94 BC sedan BF wagon
1995-99 BD sedan BG wagon
2000-02 BE sedan BH wagon

These years are for North America only but the model designation is worldwide. For instance, the BC/BF ran from 1989-late 1993 in Japan, Australia etc. So if you are looking for parts look for the model designation to be sure.

Actually, what Im trying to do is to figure out the years for the North American market - for the headlamps, because i know that there were subtle changes - since i'm trying to help McDade out on trying to help y'all get some clear covers like the impreza guys can get!

oh! thought it was for something else..

but these guys have it right. dunno if the bd/bg 2 piece is exactly the same size and shape as the earlier 1 piece headlight, though.

well, judging from the info that's here, i would say it would either be from 90up or 95 up to the 02+'s. I have to get a image of the front lenses so that i can correlate somehow.

well, i don't have any pics handy, but 90-94 headlights are flat and rectangular (i think), 95-99 are slightly curved, but much wider than taller, and 2000+ are slightly curved, too, but much more square than the previous ones. i wonder if they make the carbon fibre ones for the be/bh legacy like they do for the wrx..

and sure, i'll test fit them on my car. still might get a set of morettes for the better optics, though..
