Unhappy Lost throttle control

I had a wierd situation today.

2004 STi with drive by wire: I was driving along at 40 MPH constant for 5 miles or so, I notice my cruise control light is on and flashing. I didn't turn it on. It has turned itself on several other times as well, but this time after I slowed to a stop, I had no throttle control. Cruise light is blinking and CEL comes on. Rush hour traffic, on a bridge with no throttle. All I could do was crawl along in 1st at 1000 RPM. Stopped, turned off the ignition, started up again, and still no throttle control. Pulled over tuned off ignition again, phoned the dealer...they were closed. Sat for 5 minutes, started again, finally had throttle back but idled at 1K, throttle was sluggish and CEL was still on.
Any ideas? Similar experiences?
Crap, I've only had the car for 6 days.

On your car the cruise light will blink when the CEL turns on, this is to get your attention. Under this condition the cruise will not work. At your earliest convenience, take the car to the dealer and have them read the code and fix it.

The CEL thread won't help you until you know what the code is. Anyway since the car is under warranty just let the dealer worry about it. Or maybe it's not under warranty since you have a US spec car in Canada?

You are correct about the codes. I'm not able to read the OBDII codes at the moment.
As for the warranty...the dealer was also the importer...so full factory warranty is honored by Subaru Canada. I paid a little more but at least I have the peace of mind of knowing that that the warranty will be valid.

I do get the sweet HID headlights that the Canadian cars don't, however I do not get to enjoy heated seats and the Ski pass through in the rear seats.
