Thanks, Joshua

Sure. Control arms are going to be the big thing though. The rear bushing is totally different.

THAWA,
So you know it will fit I will just have to shim the control arms because of the bushings like you would when using a WRX crossmember? Or were you just guessing? Thanks, Joshua |

well, the issue of shimming is bc they went biggornator. i doubt they would have reduced the size for some weird reason.
im sure it can be made to work, unless its free or very very cheap, why not just do the time tested thing of using the proper part? what do you have on your L wagon with ej25 now? |

I currently have an MY97 2.5 from a legacy Lsi that has an old JC Sports turbo kit on it, it's over five years old and showing it's age. Yes the crossmember is free, since is comes from my wife's crashed legacy which I just bought back for a swap. So besides the shimming I don't have to worry about the bolt holes matching up to the frame or anything like that then?

The bolt holes matching up is what you need to worry about. The rear bushing setup is completely different.

the steering rack is also differnt style. for the X member you need to use the new style 05 ish rack (im guessing) that has differnt ujoint than gc8.

Okay well seeing that I have the whole car, is it possible fore me to use this crossmember? Can I switch the rack over, maybe even the control arms? I don't have a problem getting a new cross member but would prefer not to if I don't need to. Thanks for the input guys.

youlll have to custom fab a steering u-joint (chop/weld), and deal with sever camber issues from teh widetrack legacy. why not just buy a $100 part and take care of it properly. no ghetto rigging.

Now knowing this I now plan to purchase the proper part just didn't want to if I didn't have to. Any suggestion on where to pick one up cheap?
Thanks for the help. Joshua |
