Since you prissy Canadians have to buy your booze from the Man, where do you go for specialty stuff like sake (rice wine), plum wine, absinth (hehe), and good Tequila (I am partial to Patron).
Secondly, is it wrong to drink at home by yourself at night? hehehe

there is a place on 1st and Venables called fujiayma and I *think* you can get it there.
or else the liquor store on cambie and 41st has gotta have it. there is nothing wrong with drinking by yourself. as long as you drink enough not to remember you were alone. [b] |

Go to a BIGGER liquor store. They will have sake, and whatever else. Though I'm not sure they'll have absinth (sp?), I heard only a few select stores will carry that.
Sake is easy to find. Just need a bigger store. And yes. I think it's "wrong" to drink by yourself alone at home. It's the sign of an alcoholic. You need some help. And a hug. I think brucelee will hug you to help you man. We are here to help. ![]() |

That is the one thing that really sucks about Canada, having to buy your booze at a special store.
Here in California Alcoholics can shop anywhere If I had known you were wanting some I could have brought it up with me last week, oh well. On a good note...my cousin is the exclusive Canadian distributor for Guinness, Boddington's and Alexander Keiths...mmmmmm! |

LOL @ SoCalScoob
![]() Thanks guys. I'll go check those places out! But they better have the drinkable stuff, not the paint thinner they call Gekkeikan, Sho Chiku Bai, etc. Momokawa is a surprisingly good domestic. Anyway, I'll let you know how it turns out. And if any of you are interested in sharing a bottle, come on up and we'll kick it with a VCD of Rally Finland. |

A store called Fujiya has it, there's one on Venebles by Clark I think, and also one by North Road and Lougheed near a block east of Lougheed Mall. And they have very good sashimi and wasabi too... yum yum!

Liquor store at Cambie and 41st Ave.... largest store in the lower mainland.
The best one I've tried to date that's available in Vancouver is Wind Water Man (the characters anyway) I don't remember if the english translation is on the bottle... it might. It's a bluish green bottle. Also Mizu Aioki is pretty good too. (Haven't seen this one that much recently though). This one is in a transluscent blue bottle. These are all premium sakes. Should be kept in the freezer for a while and had ice cold like a nice bottle of Grey Goose =) |

Larger liquor store, but most of the Sake here is craaaaap. Not enough demand for the good stuff. If you see anything from Iwate prefecture try that, great stuff, especially for cold sake.

I had like half an ounce in a long time and that stuff just burnt a hole in my stomach. The Asahi put it out though, but the sake just goes into your blood so quick it seems!

Asahi?!?! If American beer is watered down dog piss, then Asahi, Kirin, and Sapporo are watered down tanuki piss! I still haven't found a Japanese beer that I liked.
Ahwell, there's always daiginjyo. mmmmmm |

Nothing like a good micro brew...
I see most of you like the flavourless light (colour) beers... For me, the only light beers I like are the flavourful czech style pilsners, most of the Belgiums (Leffe or Stella). In terms of domestics... I stick with the smaller breweries... My fav... Sleeman's Honey Brown, Shaftsbury Heffeweizen, Tree Pale and sometimes Tree Hop Head. You guys are making me very thirsty.... Looks like I'm gonna have to bring out the scotch later. |

blackskull,
you bust the scotch, I'll bring some cigars anybody had a belgian beer called duval? mmm goodly I like Tree fire weed honey pilsner. I think that we should have a non car mini meet and go out and get hammered. My size doesn't help in auto-x but I know it all good in an all out booze fest! Hey, speaking of booze fest, brew fest is on next week friday. its like 20 beans, you get a glass and you can go round and taste all of what BC has to offer. Anyone interested?[b] |
