Default HELP; trouble getting into Reverse and 5th gear

Have any of you had trouble getting into reverse or 5th gear in an '04 STi? I don't understand what could be wrong; we are having our tranny fluid checked, but I'm starting to get really freaked out. Any input would be appreciated, thanks. We have an Exedy STi Hyper Single clutch with lightweight flywheel. BTW, my husband says he notices that the driveshaft has alot of movement and we have bushings on the way to help correct, could that have worn out something? Do you think this is synchro issue, mounting issue, or did I just wear out my tranny? I have 38,000 miles.

Hmmmmm.... That's really odd. slide under the car and check the cam for the lockout on the tranny. The cam lobe pointed at the ground is the at rest, locked out positon. The cam lobe pointed toward the back of the car is the into reverse, unlocked position.

While under there check for play in the front stay bushing, and in the linkage bushings.

Do you have any modifications to the shifter setup?
