Default MadDad Header + Uppipe

I bought this from MD04WRX a bit over a week ago. He got it from a group buy that MadDad did a few months ago. I figured I could just install the header and keep the stock uppipe. Unfortunately the header and uppipe have a 3 bolt flange to attach them. While this makes a much better seal from header to uppipe it means you can't use the stock uppipe with the MadDad header. I'm a bit lazy and I don't feel like doing all of the work to remove the stock uppipe and install this one since the STi uppipe is already catless. So I'm trying to sell this one and I'm planning to buy a Gruppe-S header (which is exactly the same except it has the stock 2 bolt flange to the uppipe.)

$400 gets you this beautiful MadDad header + uppipe, new gaskets, 50ft of DEI exhaust wrap, heat wrap sealer, and a few clamps to help hold it together.

I'm located in Laurel, MD and work in Columbia. I make a few tips to College Park and Bethesda a week. Local pickup preferred, but I'm willing to meet halfway or I'll ship if you pay for the shipping costs.

I figure I'll leave this in the MAIC classified for a few days before posting it on the main classifieds.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Well if I can't find a buyer I'll suffer through with the uppipe install and then you can have my stocker.

I'd recommend you suffer through the install. You're most of the way there anyway, and the header => uppipe connection is the important one, so to make sure you've got it good & solid you'd have to loosen the uppipe => turbo connection anyway. Plus since you don't have the EGT prope in the uppipe you don't have to do any black magic to get the stock uppipe out.

From the angle of the MadDad uppipe you can't see it too well, but it still has the EGT bung in it.

I'm still not sure if it's worth all of the trouble since I think there will be minimal gains over the stock catless uppipe.

I'm still on the fence about this. Maybe you are right and I shouldn't be so darn lazy.

Yes, but since the STi doesn't have the stock EGT probe, you'll just stick a bolt in the maddad bung. And you don't have to worry about jacking up the engine and becoming a contortionist to twist the stock uppipe out - it should practically fall out. Plus I know 2 people w/ a version of these headers & they love them. I have a header similar to the other one you're considering, and I love it too, but I think you're going a little crazy for no real reason. You've got a great header there - throw it on!

Oh, I didn't know the stock STi uppipe didn't have an EGT probe. That does make life a bit easier. Hmmmmm I'm starting to change my mind on this.

Thanks for the info Turbojon. If I go through with installing this I'm gunna hold you responsible if I have to turn into a contorionist to get the stocker out.
