Hey M-mike. There are a couple of recent threads about this very issue. do some research on the compression ratios for 2.5l and 2.0 heads. You may have some tuning issues running the 8.5:1 CR as opposed to the 8:1. Turbo: What are you looking for? Injectors: Pending on answer to Turbo question. Clutch: Answer the turbo question. Without knowing how much power you are going for, it's tough to lay out a setup. Do some re"search" come up with a game plan and lay it out for discussion.

^^+1 ...will you be doing anything with the car other than streeting it? What kind of budget are you working with?

Do you have a front-mount? Tell us your mods...

Just curious, what about the rear?... diff, half-shafts, hubs, brakes...

my only recommendation is that if you want over 300whp, get some cams. Even stock STi cams would help, because the WRX ones will hold you back. Good luck.

i want to get probably a greddy turbo(is it good?), for now i got TMIC from TXS but im getting a front mount from them soon. i also got perrin down pipe, M2 uppipe greddy cat back, utec, avo turbo inlet pipe. now i got about $5000 to spent. im getting aluminum driveshaft from godspeed(anybody know anything about it?) and i will be using my rear end with a ring and pinion from gruppe-s. i want my car to be a everyday car. on my list that i want to get are greddy timing belt, cusco mounts, crank pulley, apr head studs, header, clutch + flywheel, injectors, fuel rails, walbro pump.

You've already got:
- 2.5L shortblock
- STi tranny
- M2 UP
- Perrin DP
- GReddy muffler
- UTEC
- AVO turbo inlet hose

You have $5000 to get this other stuff:
- Cusco mounts
- flywheel
- clutch
- Godspeed alum. driveshaft
- gruppe-s ring & pinion
- APR head studs
- header
- lightened crank pulley (stock diameter)
- fuel rails
- injectors
- Walbro pump
- turbo
- TXS FMIC
- GReddy timing belt

Is this right so far?

I hope this helps you. I asked the same question a while ago and was shown this http://www.i-speed.us/dyno_results/d...s.cgi?Menu=3-0 . There a few dyno plots of different hybrid set ups.

if you want good driveablity go for a gt30r... injectors will depend on what kind of tune you want... but just to say something I'd say with 15-20 psi through a gt30r you should be sitting between 550cc-850cc injectors...

It really depends on all your mods... look what other people have and what they are running...

Make a goal of what you want first....

I love ACT clutchs myself... and fidanza flywheels..

i had a act2600 and a fidanza flywheel and that was a EXELLENT combo, i daily drove that car every day as well and gave me no problems in traffic or regular driving.

If you get a lot of contributors to this thread, you'll get a lot of different ideas about the turbo to go with... and there are a lot of ways to go right.

Looking at your budget I'd say either A. go with a bolt-on -- a FP Green or a SR55 -- or B. take some stuff off your list to make room for a rotated mount Garret with an external wastegate.

If it were me, I'd chose B., and get the GT30R (when it was me... I did) but it's all tradeoffs. If you like A., go to the link joeyd02 gave you, here it is again...
I-Speed hybrid dyno comparo
...and click the white boxes to the right of the SR55 and the Green, hit 'Enter' and tell us what you think.

I'd go modded stock injectors or you'll bust your budget.

I did alotta research on clutches and landed on the ACT myself, but of course that's nothin compared to experience with the product. I'm glad to hear you like the one you got. I'm getting a HeavyDuty with a StreetLite FW put in in February.

mazdamike, PdxTuning will give you a good, competitive price on clutches and FWs. I say, go organic.

Dude, if you're going from stock to this setup, you're going to be rocked!

i've been hearing bad thinkgs about pf green turbos. friend of mine had it on his wrx and it blew on him twice within two week period.
act2600 is the street clutch right? i dont want anything to crazy. its not on/off clutch is it? i want to be able to slip it to launch it.
i deffenatlly want to run 20+ psi on the turbo but i want it to be able to drive it everyday.
anybody heard anything about the streetlite act flywheel? thats the one i had in mind.
my goal probably would be 350-400 whp.
well im not really going from stock to this. all those parts i already had on my 2.0 motor but my tranny blew and like most of you whit that problem the dealer did not warranty the car so i got mad and i got the sti set up. by the way im am sueing subaru. well see what happens.

I'd get a TD06-20g. So many of them running around. Good price. With good mods, you'll get close to 350awhp w/ pump, and close to 400 with race fuel.

A GT30r would be great, but better suited for a FMIC. ATP is coming out with a GT28 kit this spring.

I got that ACT Stretlite fly and Street cluctch. It works great for me. I was going for the fp green but heard alot of horror stories so I went with the SZ49 w/ 3in inlet and fatboy wheel. Unabomber changed my mind . I havent put the new set up together yet and wont be able to until I get back in May. I am also on my second tdanny. I plan on puttin some RA gears in the old one and set it aside just in case.

With a decision like this that's so crucial to the compression ratio, I'd call a couple of reputable shops experienced with this type of build to get their advice.

now i narrow it down to to similar turbos. PE1818F or a greddy TZ518Z. i dont know which one to pick. they are both 18g turbos. now with the head gasket it would make sense to put STI because STI pistons are bigger so the wrx gasket would be in the way.

same here-

2.5l block, 2.0l stock heads, sti head gaskets, sti timing belt, FP 18g, sti pink injectors, really crappy, small fmic, stock fuel pump, cheap 3" exhaust, ACT clutch, ecutek tuned at Harmanmotive to 280hp at the wheels.

since then Ive installed an aps DR725 fmic, apexi exh, walbro fuel pump- now saving for a retune-

My car has been put together, but I stilll need to get mine tuned. Kingpin is taking their time with my ECU. Thinking of going back to Dyno Comp.
