97' door lock switches on 95'
I would like to know if its possible to replace my power door lock switch in the drivers door lock to the 97' system where there is a separate switch on the drivers door and the addition of a switch on the front passenger door.

Yes, although you may have to splice a wire or two if you don't want to swap the whole wiring harness in the door (been there, done that, it's not fun). My 96 is now set up for those locks courtesy of a 97 harness I ran to let me use heated mirrors. I had to re-wire the harness to get the original lock to work properly, though it's fairly easy to put back.
Incidently, 97 was the only year of that particular door style. 98+ has a bigger switch console and looks more integrated with the doorswitch not on its own little island. If you want, I've got a 98 Outback right-side door panel I can sell you real cheap that includes the window and door switches. I can also make some recommendations on where to get the wiring harness, if you like. |

I prefer the island switches. what parts would I need other than the switches and wire harness? Any relays? Where can I find these parts?

I'm not sure if it's possible to buy the switch surrounds and mount them to your existing door panel - you might need to get the whole panel as well. Other than that, the switches and the harness are all you really need - and you may be able to splice existing wires and get away without the harness. As to where to get them from, I'd recommend Lisa at Troncalli Subaru/Chrysler ((800) 334-4717). Also, Dale Teague at www.teaguesauto.com is a goldmine of information and can usually get parts (new or used) at a decent price.
