Does anyone really know WHICH tires have decent rim protection? I'm looking for a high performance all season tire - both for the 06 WRX coming next month and the wife's BMW 325i. Does the P-Zero-Nero M&S have rim protection rubber? Any recomendations? I have rim protector designed sidewalls on my Yoko AVS-I and they're great at keeping the rims from curb rash.
Also, I saw one post that implied the new 215/45/17 RE-92's might be better than the old 205/55/16 on the old WRX - any confirmation on that or that they have rim protectors?

The rim protection on the P-Zero M+S is pretty decent against curb rash, even though they are not advertised to perform in this way. I'm not the greatest parallel parker, so these tires have done well in saving my rare Speedlines from being damaged. The only exception would be when I was following the parking pattern of the Mercedes in front of me - I turned too close to the curb when I pulled forward and scrapped my rim on the front passenger side. It turned out to be only a small indentation. When I got out of the car after parking, I looked at the Mercedes and saw that the driver had scrapped the same rim as myself.

Nokian Hakka NRW's do, although I, too picked up a nick on an unseen, snow-covered curb.

I don't find the P-Neros have any rim protection. I did notice the Bridgestones on the 2006 WRX's seem to have some rim protection. I honestly doubt a little ridge of rubber is going to save a rim.

I've got Falken Ziex 512s and the rim protector seems pretty good to me. Really great bang for your buck tire too.
