hey guys. quick question. what is the advantage to having a manual or electronic boost controller with an ecu upgrade? liek accessport? doesnt the new map up boost and fuel anyway?
also WHEN you do this. do you have to set the boost yourself at what the map should be peaking at? im a little confused. probly a newb question. im asking becuase ive heard of most people doing this with ecu upgrades. but any help is greatly appreciated. thanks matt.

If you think the HWG maps are just for if you want to run more boost, you stil have alot of reading to do.
That map is made to hit the exact same boost as the normal map. Boost controlers typically handicap the AccessPorts abilities, unless you have custom tuned the car. |

advantages:
1) you can change the boost parameters without busting out a laptop and/or switching maps. to alter my boost i reach down with my left hand and turn a knob: 2) i have NEVER seen any other closed loop boost control system compare to the transient stability of a good quality MBC. 3) unless you go with an interrupt style boost control solenoid, there is no comparison to spoolup/boost onset with a ball and spring MBC. |
