Is 22lbs heavy for 17x7 wheels? I'm not sure what the average 17" wheel weighs, but I believe the addition of weight on a larger wheel will be somewhat counteracted by less rubber of the lower profile tire? I am going from 15x6.5" wheels with 195/60 tires to a 17" possibly, since the 16" RS wheels seem to be worth their weight in gold and 17" will look better as well.

My 17X7.5s are 13lbs so, yes, that seems heavy. I think the BBS wheels are in the upper teens.
No, the larger tires will also weigh more. Check TireRack to get an idea of tire weights. |

Well crap, I guess that's why they are so cheap.

....there are several inexpensive 17" wheels....and I'd do 17x8's so ya can put a bit bigger tire on 'em....like a 245/40

The wheels I was checking out are the ADR formula 5 I think. They look like they wouldn't weigh much, they are obviously some type of forged aluminum alloy wheel. I asked the guy if he would weigh one and he said "it's about 22lbs". He may have been wrong, I'm going to contact ADR and see.

1. Lightweight
2. Strong 3. Cheap Pick two of the above. If they're 22 lbs, they're not forged. My forged 17x7.5 weigh 15.5. Similar spoke style knockoffs by rota weigh ~19 lbs. www.wheelweights.net doesn't show the Formula 5, but ADR are all cast aluminum, and range from 18-25.5 lbs for 17x7 sizes. |

I got 5zigens 17x8s on the way...they are around 160 a piece I think and weigh 17 pounds. That's pretty decent.

17x7" Kazera KZ-V; 17lbs, cast and shot peened, $129 each from tire rack. Or Kosei K1 TS: 17x7, 13.7lbs, cast and shot peened, $199 each from tire rack. There... Lightweight and inexpensive. The KZ-Vs have served me very well so far; I am definitely pleased with them. Further info: My 17x7 Kazera KZ-Vs with 215 45 17 Kuhmo Exsta MX tires weight 39.1lbs (mounted balanced and pressurized to 35PSI). My stock 2.5 RS rims (16x7 5 spoke, 16.5lbs) with slightly worn 205 55 16 inch Dunlop Winter Sport M2 tires weight 38.6 (mounted balanced and pressurized to 35PSI). |

22lbs? Did they make them out of iron?
I can vouch for the 17" Kosei K1 TS as my track rims and they work great. On the street, my "heavy" 17" rims are less than 17lbs. |

Those Kazeras look nice on your car. I wonder if they clear brembos or even the subaru 4pots, I like those wheels. So you have the 17lb ones? I will check into those. What brakes are those on your car, are they the 4pots? I'm not too knowledgeable on the various brakes we can use. I will figure it out eventually.

go to www.edgeracing.com and look for the Enkei RP02 wheel...they may stll be on sale for $95 each. they are 17x7.5 and weigh roughly 15lbs each. its a sweet deal. you can shod them with good tires too and dont have to waste money on M+B. i'd get them if i dont already have TWO sets of summer wheels + one set of snow wheels.

Yeah, those are the 17lb ones. I've hit some stuff with them and they are still perfect. Hell, I drove through Detroit with them; any rim that can do that is good for me The brakes pictured are stock WRX brakes. I have 4 pots as of this winter but I am currently running them on my stock RS rims: I do believe these wheels will clear 4 pots, but I won't know untill summer. Luke at the tire rack could tell you for sure. |

I have the 18x7.5" +50 Kosei K1-TS (15.9lbs) but they do not clear Brembos.

I checked out edgeracing Expresswagon. Holy crap, that's cheap for a sub 16lb 17" wheel! I wonder if those clear the big brake setups? Why would I spend 300 on 16" RS wheels when those are only slightly more brand new!
And they probably weigh less, anyone know? |

They are shotpeened from the factory. I suspect that is part of the reason why they can make them so light. Not as good as a cast wheel, but for the price, its a winner ![]() |
