Default 2002 2.5rs to a 2002 wrx swap: update march 5th

this is an update on my swap, pics are on last page

well im doing a usdm 2002 2.5rs to a 2002 usdm wrx. i just got my bulkhead harness (81402fe001) oh yea, not to mention this harness is huge hahah, i didnt expect it to me this big and heavy...but o well.

but when i was labeling everything, i was on http://www.zerothree.com/wrx/manuals/WIRING.pdf and this harnes isnt just the bulkhead harness, it goes under the dash, comes thru the fire wall THREE times! and is part of th front harness. labeled wires coming from the passenger side all the way down to the RH headlight. i had to go back and fourth looking at the front harness, and bulkhead harness diagrams. weird.

my front harness is on its way. man cant wait to label that.

but all this is usdm. same body, chassis everything, got the ecu. shouldnt this be a PULL AND GO kinda thing??? the 02 rs is very similar to the 02 wrx.

i got the engine and engine harness. blah blah also the fuel pump controller but have no idea how to hook that up . should i get a wrx fuel pump?? or a walboro?? i dont know the diff. but better feed of fuel i guess.

tell me your answers to my questions

this will be the start of my engine swap.

use all the WRX wiring and it'll be pull and go(provided you use the WRX fans and radiator as well).

it's really not that hard

you think?? hmm mybe, what are the toher harness that i should get?? i got the engine harnes, bulkhead, front is coming...umm i know the front door cord and rear door cord both RHT, LFT, FRONT,REAR are the same so i got those.

transmission cord, i got that becuase im running a wrx tranny on a 2.5na.

ROOF CORD...i dont want the nav, high beam deflector rear view mirror thing, and the over head lights. so im not going to get that.

the only thing on the site is the REAR WIRING HARNESS(that might be the same)

FUEL TANK CORD(that might be the same too right???)

TRUNK LID CORD, i know i need to get that because on the 2.5's, they dont have the fuel pump controller plug.

is there anything else?

you can do it hondatch's way, but you'll spend a ton on harnesses. all you really need is the bulkhead and engine harness. you can run the extra couple wires to the fuel pump controller, no need for the factory harness. i like it that way too because you can use heavier gauge wiring for the fuel pump. I used spade connectors and heatshrinked each one on the fuel pump controller. The swap should be easier too because the 02 rs has most of the same fuel/emissions wiring as the wrx. if i were you though, i would have just bought a wrx because you're gonna need a hood and if you ever total the car, it's value will be less unless you pay to insurance all the mods.

yeh thats definatly true but i have insurance issues hehe. but your telling that the bulk and front harness will match up, wairing and all, with the harnesses i have in my 2002 2.5rs right now? if so haha all hands down

no no, it won't match up. there are two ways to do it. get all the wrx wiring, spend the time and money to install ALL new wiring...meaning EVERY wire in the car. Or you get the WRX bulkhead & engine harness and you splice everything together and add a few wires that aren't there.

that's what i told him. I suggested that if he's concerned about something not coming out right that he do it that way. I made my entire engine harness for my WRX swap from scratch
