Question im buying tires tomorrow and i cant decide what to get

so here's my tire choices:

1. kumho ecsta mx
2. bfgoodrich g-force sport
3. kumho ecsta spt
4. yokohama avs es100

all of these tires are around the same price range and all of them pretty much have the same performance numbers. but from personal expierence which are the best and should i stay away from any of these tires. im pretty much solely interested in summer and dry performance, i live in cali so i dont need to worry about much rain and no snow. im running advan rs wheels 17x8.5 and i was planning on ordering a 245/40/17 series tire. i just need a bit of advice as to which is the best.

thanks

^^^Since TireRack doesn't carry them, just get them locally. The shipping cost more than makes up for the difference.

For a high perf summer tire the Kumho MX (ninja edit) are the best out of that list.

^^^ which one? he has 2 listed. I believe your talking about the mx's though. They are also a very light tire. I know a couple of vette's that run them, they seem to like them.

My friend had a set of bfgoodrich g-force sports on his Mazda 3 and both he and I thought they sucked. I have the yokohama avs es100 and they're ok, nothing special.

What about the Falken RT-615? A great summer tire and they are pretty cheap. You can buy them here.

Not true. Shipping is only $30-40 from tirerack for a set of 4 tires. You have to get your local retailer to match tirerack's pricing (and most will do it).

What is your goal for your car?> What do you do with it? What do you want it to do that it doesn't do now? What do you have on it now.

Let's start there. Then we can recomend some tires for you.

The tires you have in that list don't really compare to well. The MX's (while outdated and not nearly as good as many newer tires) are much more suited to autox or track (general performance driving) than the others.
Also, check out 255 40 17 as a size as there are many more tires available in that size that are performance oriented.

i've had the following tires; kumho ecsta 712, yokohama avs sport, and toyo proxes 4. overall, i am the most satisfied with the toyo tires. they have great treadwear and great peformance at the same time. the kumho sucked, will never buy that brand again. yokohama's were also good, but pricey. depends how deep your pocket is...

out of those, the mx. otherwise, consider falken 451's (or 115's) for inexpensive tires that'll compete with anything out there, up to 9/10ths.

http://www.edgeracing.com/tires/2454017/

up in the bay area, I'd get the 451's. they are awesome in the wet, and just as good in the dry, and only $104 apiece. they last well too.

here's what i want, i dont want to spend any more than around $125-35 a piece. i want a tire that has great dry traction and cornering stability. something that isnt too loud and wont wear out quickly. something with decent wet traction although thats not my main priority.

what fits that description?

My ST115's are just about worn out and I'm trying to decide if I should buy another set. I've had the RE92's and Kuhmo 712's, and I like the 115's the best so far. My main goal is a quiet summer dry performance tire...

Is there anything out in the marketplace that is comparable with the charateristics of the Falken ST115?

...nope...great tire that gets very little 'press'.

...and for the d000d with the STi....yer best bet is the 615 Falken or the 451 Falken or the MX or the Hankook z212.
