Default 205 vs. 225 gas milage differences

I am in need of new tires for the stock rims, and want to go to the 225/50 option. I am only slightly concerned with any difference in gas milage. Is there any?? I would think that more rubber hitting road equals more friction, more friction means more gas is used. Any observations?

TIA,

Bill

I didn't really notice too much of a difference in fuel mileage going from 205/55/16 to 225/45/17... if any. I'd say 1mpg or less.
