Just got these tire mounted last night...The car runs a LOT quieter now.... the OEM tire was sooooo loud...

What really annoyed me was that I only used the OEM tire for 500miles..... and since I live in an apartment and have no place to store it.. so I had costco dump them.... which really sux.....

Car makers should really offer different tire depends on where the car is sold.. in the NW... it rains a lot... sometimes snows..... I can't do much with summer tire. I bought the car in late november, and the car only have 500 miles on it.... cuz I haven't really had the chance to drive it... cuz it's either snowing or raining hard...

No offense intended here, but you'd think that a guy who was smart enough to buy an STI would be smart enough to avoid costco altogether and keep the RE070's to resell!

The tires probably take up less space than his TV!!

so you just changed the stocker becuz it was loud? My stockers are sitting in the shed right now since it's winter... but they are pretty nice tires... except for the excessive road bumps and noises (which is covered by music and exhaust sound)

I would like to go with stock all the way, but they don't last that long

I changed them cuz it's raining here .. and has been raining for about a month now... and I just don't feel safe driving on those tire in heavy rain... and in the morning.. there are ice...

And yeah.. the noise is pretty bad.....

Anyway... I never resell a tire.. have no idea what value it would go for...but anyway.. I got the tire back today.. I think i'm just gonna keep them for summer times.. they are great tire for dry surfaces for sure.

well.. it's not brand new, it has 500miles on it already...

yeah, I checked Tirerack.. and was pretty surprised that the tire cost that much... 185 each..

I don't really know why they are so expensive tho, they are sooooo horrible on Wet surfaces, and on dry surfaces, I'm not even sure they are that much better than my all season Pilot right now. And the tire is loud.. extremely loud. Driving with these tires on Seattle freeway is pretty annoying, the noise is so loud.

But one of these days i'm gonna try the Bridgestone Turanza (I think that's how you spell it), Grand touring all season tire. They are 205 per tire, but the rating of this set of tire is excellent in all categories. Which is extremely impressive.

Dude, you drive an STI, not a Pontiac! A touring tire is not meant to be put on your car!
The Pilot you put on is a decent choice though.

EDIT - I'll pay for shipping to get those ****ty RE070's off your hands!

Do they have rim protection in that size? The pic on tirerack doesn't show one...

Edit - Never mind, I was looking at the Pilot Exalto AS....

That's WAYYYYY too much for tires, especially all seasons, which may have a good rating FOR ALL SEASONS, but are not performance tires.

You're gonna put Turanzas on your STI? Are you out of your damn mind? They are Grand Touring A/S, TWO LEVELS below the dreaded RE92s! Those tires alone will single handedly drag all the performance figures down considerably.

And you don't think RE070's stick better than Pilot Sport A/S on dry?

Why the hell did you buy an STI? Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being bothered by noisy performance tires. But you seem to have no clue as to what kind of car an STI is. I mean, did you even testdrive it before you bought it? For that money you could've gotten a G35 and the likes.

2 max performance tires that are great in the rain, much quieter than RE070's:

Goodyear GSD3
Continental SportContact2

neither will perform as well in the dry as the RE070, but both will outperform your Michelin A/S wet or dry. However, unlike the Michelin they are not designed for snow

as for the Turanza - when it comes to tires, you don't know what you don't know...

yeap.. i don't know much about tire at all... all i go by is the rating on the website... tirerack's rating that is.

so how is tirerack giving better rating for the turanza than most of Ultra performance A/S tire?

You can only compare ratings *within* a category. GT tires can't be compared directly with Ultra High Performance tires because they are so different, and because the people who buy them (and rate them) are usually looking for different features.

....and if ya look at the tables.......there are a LOT of MAX performance tires in the UHP table

Luke says it's the tire manufacturer that 'places' the tires in their respective catagory.....that whole damned 'rating' thing is nothing but confusing to the 'n00b' tire shopper 'cuz they don't have enough knowlege to filter that BS outa that whole mess....and those ratings are based on performance replies buy the 'consumer'....the average(village) idiot, in other words.

Pure pointless....like the guys that downrate tires 'cuz they suck in snow/winter......MAX performance summer tires, at that
