Default Exedy Clutch upgrade

I did a search and didn't get much. I know that Exedy makes the stock clutch set-up and the ACT kit (except for the disc).

I was at Suby Sports during the Pike's Peak Hill Climb weekend and spoke with him a bit about clutches.

He said the Exedy Clutch kit he offers is the best out there if you plan to stick with the stock tranny. I like the looks of the kit and it does have a better plate and supposedly a different disk (per my memory of the conversation) but it isn't overly aggresive on the tranny like the ACT kit. He said it is roughly 90% of the ACT set-up so engagement is smoother yet the pedal is firmer.

Can anyone help confirm or deny any of this? I'm considering doing a clutch upgrade (sooner than later) and really don't want an ACT. I've heard of the ClutchMaster set-up, but it's too new for me (I'm open to opinions on Exedy and Clutch Master owners).

All help greatly appreciated,

Jon

I think that--like short shifters--everyone likes the one they have and will tell you so loudly and often. Despite it's reputation for sudden engagement, the ACT clutch seems well liked by it's owners. I tried the Clutchnet kevlar disc and switched to the Clutchmasters Stage III. So far so good with the Clutchmasters, but it was $500. If the Exedy kit offers an upgraded pressure plate AND disc for $350 that sounds like a pretty good deal. Is the disc organic or Kevlar?

OT: I found this cool swf on Exedy's web site...

That's pretty cool!

Very informative.

So I'm guessing if I go and get this I will be a pioneer.

Some garbled information...

Quote:
...The Exedy pressure plate is 40% stronger than stock and is new not rebuilt the disk is organic and full faced...

...The stock WRx clutch has 730 kg clamping force and the clamping force of the factory normally aspirated clutch is 580 kg. The Exedy performance clutch we sell has 750 kg of clamping force...

Where did you get those Clamp force numbers? I don't see them on their site.

I have the exedy clutch along with the exedy lighted flywheel (12lbs) I bought the car from a guy in cali. So I canít compare it to the stock clutch but it did hold up against the supercharger he had on it, the motor went first. So far no issues with lots of hard launches and me learning to drive a car as opposed to a jeep.
