Default hYdra: Stage injectors?

Would the hYdra allow one to use an 8 injector, stages setup? Im talking at lower load 4 injectors are firing, and at higher load an additional 4 kick in.

Thanks..

Yes it does

Straight from the Hydra Site:

Injectors:

The Nemesis 2.1 is capable of running cars upto 8 Cylinders sequentially. Injection modes are sequential, batch fire and throttle body injection. When not used for injection, outputs 2 - 8 can be used for staged injection or general purpose switching, and outputs 2 - 5 can be used for PWM control .

Thanks sir.

And, one last question. Is the hYdra MAF, MAP, or TPS based?

MAP based (it has an onboard MAP sensor). It can run in "TPS" mode (which estimates load based on TPS position, but it is not recommended for normal use and is STRONGLY discouraged on turbo cars, since boost is not as TPS dependent as the loads on an N/A car are.

I think you'd have to get a custom Hydra to do it, but like folks have said the Hydra can control 8 injectors--each with individual resistances and trims.

Agreed, MAP based.

I encourage you to talk with Phil about your set up.

+1 on talk to Phil

I'd also see when the Hydra 2.5 is coming out because it offers faster start up and more features.

Yes, you can do this but it does require some additional wires added to the harness. In all honesty there really isn't much of a benefit for most since the Hydra can control low impedance injectors. We have tested up to 1000cc and up to 680 whp without any downsides. If you plan on higher HP than this you can try 1600cc injectors but I have not tested these to ensure they will idle cleanly at 14.5-14.7 AFR (I suspect they will be close). This would be my first choice as itís 2 less fuel rails, 4 less injectors, 4 less potentially leaky fuel seals, 4 less electrical connectors to wire, and 4 less potential air leaks, and less wires to the Hydra.

Now if you insisted on running 8 injectors you can. The second set are run in batch mode and only activated when the standard 4 injectors are run at maximum.

Thanks,
Phil

The Element Hydra 2.5 units just started shippping but due to a large back order we're still filling, I haven't promoted them.

Thanks,
Phil
