Default WRX Oil filters

I currently have a 03 ts at home and have a 06 WRX comming in about a week.

I'm just curious as to where people are buying oil filters for the subaru's. I know down in the states they have the "nice" a100 black oil filters but up here, we seem to only get the white six star filters *cough... fram... cough*.

With the WRX being the first turbo car i've owned, i'm a little more concerned about giving it the "best" as I expect it to last 10-12 years if possible ..... provided the "best" is affordiable (ie. $50 oil filters are not really affordiable).

Don't know if it's the "best". I'm sure there's better but anyway, I'm just using a K&N oil filter right now... I like the fact that it has a 'nut' thing on the bottom you can stick a socket on, makes it really easy to change...

The K&N one is good, but I find the JDM black is good as well.
btw, I think you can purchase the JDM black one from the dealer.

Yeah you can get the black ones from Subaru... then again i'm cheap, and I've been running the white ones for 3 years with no problems. I think the black filters are actually a tad bigger than the Subaru Fram ones.

Purolator 14460

Best filter in my opinion, same one that subaru puts their name on.

Working at a garage i got it for $12.00, expect to pay about $15-$18 for one :P

I have been using the K&N filter for my STi. Couldn't find anything else. Pretty impressed with the K&N when I compared it to the Fram filters I have been using forever on my last cars. K&N are around $10 at Mopac in Langley. Lordco doesn't stock the 10-08 size for the STi (and WRX). Also using the same filter on my wife's wagon.

I think your shop is overcharging u on the Purolator. There's no way it's that expensive !

I go with the FDM black filter from the dealer. It's a very impressive filter. I just get a bulk ammount each time I go in. It's easier and cheaper for everyone. Try asking how much for 6?
