Default Up & down pipe with what EM ?

Hi, in a month or so I'll be installing a Uppipe and Downpipe on my 05 WRX w/ auto tranny, Now the car is the main DD and needs to be 100% reliable w/o any problems. Also one more thing. If the car needs to go to the dealer for anything I need the EM to be undectable (or at least not a problem) . I know the up & down will show

So on those notes, what EM do I use?
I'm thinking reflash, but who in the NYC area and what kind of pricing?

Cobb AP will be your best bet methinks. You can install it yourself in minutes and there are maps for your planned mods.

Sounds like really your only option is the AP.

i would suggest AP+protune or ECUtek custom tune reflashes for best daily driveability/reliabilty. I know there's a tuner in CT (XX tuning maybe), and there are others in LI. Go the tristate area forums to find a tuner.

Most EcuTek reflashes up the boost at least a little, which is easy to see. Reverting a AP based ECU to stock, while not perfect, is at least harder to see than (need a laptop and ecuExplorer type software) than an obviously higher boost (for example).

I don't think the dealer would notice if the boost rises a bit... I don't have a boost gauge :P

So the AP is the best option for me?
and as for dectablitly... I just don't want the dealer to see some sort of ECU sticking out... If it is stored out of sight then they should have no reason to look there. Right?

two more things...
Would the mods I have planned call for any sort of stage of tuning?

with the addition of the down and up pipes, is there anything else (small/inexspensive) that should be added into the mix to get the most out of the two pipes?

if it were my stage2 car, i would get add a TMIC to that setup, and also: heat shield, heat wrap the turbo and DP and UP, and get a custom tune with the AP. There's plenty of info on heat wrapping to be found in the 2.0 forum. Any aftermarket NON-OEM TMIC will do.

Honestly I'm not looking to make a race car out of it. I just want a little more power for DD, I have my track car already (01ITR).

After all.. It's my daily driver that needs to stay civilized.

Neither Ap nor EcuTek have any visible physical indication. A custom tune is always good.

If your doing an uppipe do either the bosal uppipe or factory STi piece so it looks factory.

as far as a dp I would do the mad dadd v2 1piece dp with your factory heat shield trimmed to fit it so it looks factory also.

as far as em do the cobb ap.its realy easy to use & straight forward.

cool, I'll start looking into the STi pipe. thanks...

Custom tune, On that note does mean I have to get a fully progamable ECU or a reflash?
I'm not looking to spend thousands on this car, maybe $1500 for everything.
think two pipes and ecu work can be done for 1500 ?

The AP will be 600 or less used + ~200-250 for the custom tune (pretty much same as EcuTek). Thats 850. 2 pipes can easily be had for another 750 - hell, if you are careful, you could get a whole TBE for that.
