Default Question about my 97 Impreza L

hey, i have an automatic 1997 subaru impreza L and im trying to get more power out of it. are there any supercharger kits that will fit my car, or will i pretty much have to sell it and get something faster. Thanks for the help.

No. Electric supercharger=teh suck! Your best bet is going to be swap in a WRX or STi motor. Lots of info here about it and also check out www.rs25.com

Do suspension first. You need to learn how to drive that car, before you get twice the HP/TQ from a TURBO SWAP.

The tire + wheel section of the vendor forums... Every wheel minus the ones for the 05+ STI will fit an L.

Why do you have to have 17x7? 17x7.5 will fit just fine!!

Suby Dude has
Rota Action 17x7.5 Flat Black $162.50 per wheel
Rota Attack 17x7.5 Flat Black $162.50 per wheel
Rota SubZero 17x7.5 Flat Black $162.50 per wheel

Ya, why 17x7? 17x7.5 fits fine too...

Try tirerack for 17x7 wheels, or look for used 06 WRX wheels or 05+ Legacy GT wheels on the private sale forums and just paint them black (there are threads about wheel painting too)

will 17's fit on an impreza L? i have the stock 16's from a wrx on my 93 L and it looks like that is the tallest that will fit. as for getting more power out of your 97 L, look to do a swap from a JDM subaru of the same year. it would be a pain in the ass to do just a manual tranny swap and keep the stock motor. go for suspension upgrades! find some long flat and twisty dirt roads where you live and learn how to tear it up. the stock 115 hp of that engine is enough to go fast enough while you learn how to control your car.

Depending on what your budget is, I wouldn't rule out a doing an NA 2.5 swap. There's lots of them around for very little dollars (3-600 dollars) depending on the mileage. Look for one out of a MY 98 or newer, Legacy or Impreza. This is the cheapest and easiest swap their is, do a search you'll see.
Oh and 17's will fit with a very low profile tire. A guy in the local club has 17" black rota sub zeros on his 97 L wagon. He has kuhmo tires with a 40 sidewall. Looks really nice.
