Pics of the track pipe? What are the issues with fit? Was it a custom piece made by a shop or is it something you ordered?

I'll try to get those pics tonight.

The trackpipe was made by another member on this board (IdentityCrisis).

It is not crush bent, rather it is about 4-5 pieces welded together in the shape of the stock cats (or I guess more like a random tech cat). Pretty smooth for multiple welds.

The flanges are not welded to the ends of the pipes. This made lining up the exhaust pieces a bit of a pain.

When I installed it one weekend, I bolted it to the borla headers I have. That was ok. But when I went to bolt it to the midpipe...due to the shape of the pipe...it wouldn't bolt straight. When I tightend down the bolts the midpipe and cat made a v-shape instead of a nice straight line. Was able to bolt it all together, but due to the andgle of the cat-MP connection it would not seal completely. This made for a horrible sound between 2k-4k rpms. Since that weekend I have not tried bolting it up again.

I could only use ramps that day so I had very little room to work with. I may have been able to adjust the position to fit better had I had more room. Also my catback is custom built. The shop I went to cut the flange from my stock midpipe and welded that to 2.25" piping run to a WRX axleback. So the catback is one piece as opposed to two. The track pipe might actually fit better with a stock system or a better fit aftermarket system.

Because of the dramatic increase in exhaust noise I had to quickly remove it or my finacee would not ride in the car. (I can't blame her on that one) Otherwise I may have tried tweeking it to fit.

BTW the pipe does not have a lip for a doughnut gasket, which I why I think it does not make a good seal. An exhaust shop should be able to make this thing work with very minor adjusting. Again I'll get you some pics to understand the fitament issue. And to think I paid $180 shipped for this thing. Worst investment I've made for my Impreza. I'd rather just have a stock fitting random tech or stromung HFC.

When I say worst investment. I mean I paid too much for a custom piece that doesn't fit as well as I'd hoped. Someone may be able to make it work. (BTW pics taken, will be posted in afternoon)

One last bump for a while...

I can let the expensive stuff go a lot cheaper. Anyone else possibly interested in this track pipe lets say $75 + shipping. Just bought a stromung pipe so I'll let mine go cheap.

Installed my Stromung HFC this weekend. Took some more shots of the different pipes.

It seems the track pipe is almost perfect in relation to the stock cat. (see pics)

My custom catback is what was messing up the fitament with the track pipe. Track pipe may be good for someone else for AutoX.

All three types side by side
