Default Starter problem

Another problem here, let me give you some background. I'm using an Optima red top located in the trunk.

My starter is having problems working fully on it's on. Even with a battery charger hooked almost directly to it, it will only click forward, not try cranking the car. I know the starter is good; I took it right off of my car. The ground from the battery is grounded right against the starter. My positive wire is ran right from trunk to the starter and then off the starter to the fuse box.

I've gotta think I have enough power right to the starter. What could it be?

Brent

Very very large gauge. Not sure exactly, but it's larger than 8.

Do some voltage drops across the circuit and hopefully that will give you something..

I'd really like to have it up front but I ran my intercooler pipe right thru the battery tray.

you know that i have the same problem. but i did the conversion with the 5spd to 6spd on a GC8. i have a red top optima in the trunk. i also notice that the starter motor is sperated at the bottom of it's flange. i tried to tap a hole for the bolt but the tap striped. what i did was tried to tap the starter motor back into place and i hadn't had a problem since. the next time i have that problem, i will tap on the starter again until i drop the tranny or pull my engine out for the new engine. i'll fix it then.
