Default Heuillez Macarena (HardTop Peugeot Sedan) for 2006 Geneva Motor Show

Heuillez Macarena (HardTop Peugeot Sedan) for 2006 Geneva Motor Show

Quote:
This bizarre creation is the Heuillez Macarena, effectively a folding hardtop cabrio version of Peugeot’s 407.

The French coachbuilding and engineering firm, which designed Peugeot’s 206CC road model, has developed the folding hardtop for larger saloons and built the Macarena as a demonstration model. It is scheduled to be officially released at the Geneva motor show in March.

Apart from the novel roof mechanism – which folds away in around half a minute – the show car features LCD screens for the rear passengers and what amounts to a crossmember between the two B-pillars. The latter is presumably fitted to aid rigidity.

Heuillez claims that it is in discussions with several manufacturers about using the system in production models.

They're not the first trying to push a convertible sedan into the market. I think with the right marketing, this can open doors to some great sales. I actually like it... especially for those family drivers

Wow - four doors on a converitble. I'm not an "old car guy" but I can't remember anything in recent history with this setup. But I'm very much inclined to be proved wrong!

Anything else out there within the last 20-30 years have 4 doors + convertible??

^ Nothing in production but Chrysler has played with the idea when a Cali custom shop did this to a 300C and have gotten positive feedback from the shows its attended.

The last production 4-door convertible was the 1967 Lincoln Continental.

If your gonna do a 4-door convertible, do it like the car that CIRRUSWRX posted (Continental?) and make it with suicide doors.

I so love the idea of suicide doors on even regular cars, but on a convertible, even more do.
