We've done more than 50 cars. It's a totally straight forward swap, you'll want to run a thicker head gasket to keep your compression numbers in line, and of course you'll need a retune. The WRX's that we swap make about the same power as the STI on the VF34, about 270whp / 280 ft/bs properly setup. If you're local or would like to send your car over, drop me a PM.

Cheers,

Gary

Run a search in this forum, the 2.0 forum, and the conversions forum. You should have plenty to read.

pedru, I have this swap myself.
Because you arent upgrading the cams, its kinda hard to make more power than with the 2L, but you will make a lot more torque and power will come on a lot sooner making your powerband more usuable. I am very happy with it.

Hi Pedru,

A stock WRX (02-05) comes out of the box on our dyno at about 155-160whp. The standard WRX properly setup with a VF34 will make right around 260whp and 230 ft/lbs of torque, a 100whp gain. With the STI shortblock you will make about 10whp more, and about 40ft/lbs more torque with a MUCH stronger low-end and midrange. That said, the_columbian is 100% correct, the WRX heads and VF34 turbo then become the limiting factor in top end power. Most customers will want to do cam upgrades as well as use the 2.5 to spool a larger turbo for more power.

Hope this helps, you can always e-mail me at gary@gruppe-s.com if you have any questions. Thanks,

Gary
