Default Low boost after wastegate porting

k...so i had to send my sz49 into deadbolt to get the wastegate ported because i was spiking in higher gears and it wasn't keeping the boost down...i just got the turbo back last night and put it in and now i'm only getting ~8 lbs of boost...my map is tuned for 15.5 lbs of boost...so here is my question...did the porting of the wastegate and larger flapper make it so that it opens easier and therefore makes less boost? that is really all that i can think of at this point...i don't have the software to tune the boost map myself so that's out of the question...if anyone has any ideas please let me know...thanks

Brooks

...vac lines on wrong.... mebbe...there is a restrictor in the line that is just off the compressor nipple...if the lines are backwards, ya likely get ~8psi

well this is actually my freind's car...it's using the factory boost control solenoid...which end is the restrictor supposed to be on? i don't think we switched them up from before...i totally forgot about that restrictor, but that could be it...hmm i hate when i forget about stupid stuff like that...it's just been so long since i dealt with that...well i'll tell him to give that a shot and we'll go from there...thanks for the reminder!

It needs to be on the compressor side.

Also, if that don't work you can (As a bandaid until tuning) put a turn or turn and a half on your wastegate actuator arm. This will preload it and keep it from blowing open.

If its not your restrictor pill, then you need to tighten that actuator anyway cause the wg is blowing open cause of the portjob. And to do it right you should retune the duty cycle of the WG thru the ECU.

I've never been able to hold a solid 20psi on my green (for long anyway)cause of the internal gate. I'm giving away between 10-30 whp depending on tune and pump or C16 on the topend cause of it.

That is why those who know will tell you an external gate is superior.

.....d00000000d.......ya may just need a little more spring on the WG, either a 'helper spring' or a different WG actuator with a heavier spring
