Default Does the Accessport permanently clear a CEL, or only temporarily?

Tried to do some searching but couldnt find a concrete answer.

I got a CEL for my modded TGVs and I cleared it using my Accessport. The CEL didnt come back, and now I'm not sure if the AP permanently cleared that CEL and even if I'm still having the problem the CEL wont come on, or if after I cleared the CEL the problem genuinely worked itself out and I have nothing to worry about.

In short: when you clear a CEL using an Accessport, does it permanently clear the code, or if the problem arises again will the CEL come back on?

thanks...
bryan

It just clears the CEL. It will come back if there is a problem again.

The only permanently cleared CEL's are the ones listed in the map notes for each base flash. You would never see these once flashed.

ok i did the TGV delete and got a CEL for the TGVs being stuck open... i cleared it and the CEL hasnt come back. a couple times since then the car falls flat on its face at 5000rpm though... wasnt sure if the problem was still occurring without flashing the CEL or not.
i guess it could be my perrin inlet hose collapsing though

Yikes. What turbo? How much boost? It could very well be that.

yeah the perrin hoses are just soft silicone and every now and again someone has problems with them actually collapsing from the vaccuum created in the inlet hose between the air filter and the turbo sucking air in. the samco hose is reinforced so it is a more rigid design and i have never heard of anyone have a problem with one of those. usually with big turbos and very free flowing exhausts.
i have a VF34 and a TurboXS catless exhaust, but i've also done a lot of porting and polishing so that might factor in as well.
the problem only happened a couple of times and hasnt happened lately, but i'd assume its either 1) my TGV delete, ported/polished throttle body, ported/polished exhaust manifold flow well enough that it creates extra vaccuum on my poor K+N panel filter, or 2) after the TGV install the Perrin inlet hose is positioned differently than it used to be and possibly has a pressure/weak point now that it didnt have before, which is more prone to collapsing than it used to be.
