Question AccessPORT needed w/ new DP?

Hey, been reading and saw that delays in OL/CL fueling can cause damage to the engine when running an aftermarket DP. Right?

I now have a freshly installed Mad Dad Metal V2 DP and plan on getting a catless UP soon.

AP worth getting/ benefits of AP?

Thanks all!

Yes! I had my UP and DP on for a month before I purchased AP. During that one month, I could totally feel the OL/CL delay, which is a bad hesitation between 3-5k rpms. It feels something like the rpm keeps going higher, but the car is not really going faster. This may or may not happen to you, but even if it doesn't the car is still running dangerously lean and overtime it may damage your engine.

In fact I just installed AP tonite and it was a huge difference. Not so much difference down low because I already had UP and DP on for a month, but past 3k rpm the car pulled a lot harder. The hesitation was completely gone and the power delivery was very smooth. I would get AP even if it doesn't give any power gain because I don't want to damage my engine.

As long as its unmarried and has all the cables I would buy used. But in the case where the price is so close (< $50) I would just buy a new one. It sucks that we 2004 + have to buy an EM before pretty much doing any mods.

I bought mine off the Private For-Sale boards here for $500. Guy I bought it from was great in telling me the history of the unit and answered all my questions. I had to flash the latest firmware for the AP from Cobb, but that went fine, as did marrying it and flashing the Stage 1 map to my car.

I can tell you that it does feel smoother. What I can't tell you is that that feeling isn't just my optimistic butt-dyno combined with the knowledge that I spent $500 on the thing. But I can feel that it holds boost much longer, and that's backed up by empirical data (i.e., looking that the AP live boost reading staying around ~15psi all the way to 7K).

Personally, I would not buy a used AP unless I can meet up with the seller locally and try it out before handing over the munny. That's just me though. Too many horrible scams happened already and I didn't want to take a chance with ~$500.
