Default Anyone moved from UTEC to StreetTuner

Thinking about picking up StreetTuner software for my AP before moving down the next stage of my modding path. Figure I am better to get used to it with my car where it's at now vs getting used to it while trying to tune for new injectors/turbo/fmic at the same time.

I had a UTEC on my 02 Stage 4 for about a year and a half that I tunned my self of the road. I am curious for those that have moved from one to another how the trasition/learning curve was.

Also I don't seem to see the posts on here or other sites (aside from Cobb) about ST like I did in the past. I am assuming that this is due to most people going for a protune.

I made that switch.

I pciekd up ST FAR faster than UTEC, whose interface and OLF and OLB controls I felt were clunky as all hell, not the mention slow. Besdies that, tghe Live Tuning ability of the ST blows the UTEC out of the water.

anyone else...im thinking of making the switch...is the tuning ability the same or better with the streettuner...what has attracted me to the ST is being able to eliminate cels..

i <3 my ST.

far better than a UTEC.

you do need a laptop with a serial port or a USB to serial adapter (yes, i have one and it works.)

I'm currently set up with the AP running a mild flash (91 oct. Stg1) behind a UTEC. I've been using it to keep the rear O2 code and the top end limiter disabled. Then tuning everything via the UTEC.

I plan on getting (...gainful employment and then getting ) the ST and transitioning in stages. Something like setting up a the boost map with the ST, and switching the UTEC boost map to all ECU entries. Then, as I learn the ST, doing the same with fuel and timing.

I'd keep the UTEC installed for it's other nice benifits, solenoid output, logging w/ tuner, shift lights etc...) until I decide on a better wideband. I have an LM-1 that I use for tuning other cars, but I didn't like it 'installed' in the car. Too clunky. But anyway... that's for later.

Anyone tried this transitioning idea out? Is it a feasible route?

02ej257. Have you tried boxer4racing in Asheville or wrxevolution in Concord? ( <--- both www.com names) boxer carries Cobb now, and wrxevolution has some really helpfull guys. Don't know if they have Cobb or access to their products, but they are close by.
