Default how do you keep cats out of houseplants?

My girlfriends cat keeps getting into all the plants, digs the dirt out of them and chews on the leaves. For the past hour shes been ****ing with my paperwhites, I chase her around the apartment and she just gives me the "yea **** you" stare.

for any of you who dont know what paperwhites are... heres a picture. you should get some

FTW

The spray bottle, focus on the spray bottle. Cats hate getting sprayed.

We have a large try of planting dirt with grass growing in it. Keeps the cat happy and healthy.

We use a spray bottle filled with water to keep them off. Down side, tho, you have to catch them in the act. Also it helps if the cat does NOT like water or getting wet. (We have a mutant cat I swear was a fish at some point in her life).

We also bought some special cat grass that they can actually chew on, and planted it in a pot next to the other plants. They seem to prefer that grass to the actual houseplants.

try sprinkling some paprika on the plant. you might want to double check that though. I heard it somewhere, but am not sure if it works.

Our cat Pikachu won't leave our ponytail plant alone, so now we keep it shut in the office.

shes not afraid of water, she goes in the shower with us, she even drinks out of the toilet. I heard that cat grass makes some cats throw up all over.

Spray the cats with a water-squirter-mister-bottle-thingy everytime they go near the plants.

Moth balls in the pots.

Paperwhites stink anyway so you won't notice the moth balls.

My mom takes metal fencing about 2 inches high and then bent over at the top to meet the stalk of the plant. Wrap it around around the base of ther plant.
