Default Went stage 2, not feeling the power

I just went Stage 2 93 oct map with catless invidia tbe. I'm not getting that power... it feels like I have much worse lag than I did before... I would wait up to 3k-3.5k and then it will start boosting up. my max is 1 bar and 1.1 bar at higher gears.

I'm not sure what's wrong. I'm thinking i might have a exhaust leak (between dp and the catback) and maybe that's causing it? I can hear this hissing or whistling sound (which I thought was the turbo). What do you guys think?

For you sti guys, what rpm does your car start boosting? (2nd & 3rd gear)

do you have 94 oct gas or above gas in your state/city that you are running.

the highest pum gas here is 93.when I first got my ap I went stage2 93oct & it did the same that yours is doing so I wnt to stage2 91 it its way faster.

in the cobb book is says if you don't have 94 or above you should run the stage 291 oct.

Read the map notes.

Quote:
Best if used with 93 and 94 octane. If any knock is present, use the 91 octane version of this map.
Stage 2 should be an extremely obvious performance gain. I'd contact Cobb if you aren't seeing it.

yea that's the thing, i'm not seeing the extremely obvious gain... i did the map reflash the right way for sure... 93 oct map.

so i should flash down to 91 oct map like someone's saying?

also, can the exhaust leak cause downside in performance?

A leak AFTER the turbo won't effect you. If you touched the UP, and that was leaking, that could cause a problem. Also check your IC hoses if you pulled them off.

Haha, when I went stage 2 I couldn't tell the difference either. I needed a bigger turbo to tell the difference.

Your butt-dyno could be defective like mine.

^i hope not. I feel any changes in cars pretty fast.... lol maybe the ecu has to adjust or something like many people... or maybe I have to get it on the track to see if the time is in the reasonable place (after stg. 2)

REX8- I didn't touch the up.

Hmm I want to get in a regular sti now and drive my car and see the difference

maybe your car was heat soaked???

you should feel a pretty good difference.

-A leak after the turbo will cause loss of torque, which feels like lag. Maybe not a small barely noticible leak, but a decent sized gap will.

of course, I use 93 octane regularly. I flashed 93 map for sure I check on my cobb ap and it says the same thing. Maybe i'm just power hungry or that exhaust leak (i'm assuming) is making a difference in spooling

what rpm in 4th gear are you guys hitting full boost? (stock sti or stg 2 sti) -- so I can compare it when I go drive

Been Stage II for a month with APS 3" TBE catless and running STGII 91MAP. When I drove off the dealership it was a night and day difference. On the freeway over 80 it was just simply amazing. However the last 2 weeks have been different ever since the hand car wash I went through..I don't know if the exhaust got bumped causing a leak..but eventually I took it to the South Coast Subaru dealership to get it checked out and they tightened everything even though they were sure nothing was lose. I think I am just getting used to it thats all... came across a stock STi this evening and we pushed at around 40+ and I am glad that I pulled on him without any issues

All in all love the Stage II.. next is a protune and sways.. I am just a little disappointed that my STi got keyed 2 weeks ago.. I usually go to the meet at In n out on Wednesday's by Laguna Hills mall...anybody wants to come and try it.. no worries

We're all a victim of this at some point or to some degree, SMOOTH POWER /= FEELS WICKED FAST, you have a huge flat torque curve and peak HP early, if you thought this was going to feel like your buddy's POS DSM that your car now beats yet his feels 3x faster, you were wrong.

Consider alcohol injection and a protune, but DEFINATELY don't disregard a protune... cobb's map is stupid rich and doesn't make much up top

Hey if you're running the stage2 realtime map on a 2006 STI, you will not be getting full power unless you have downloaded the updated maps that were posted TODAY, thursday feb 2.

There was a glitch in the maps that caused problems with boost control. Once it was brought to Cobb's attention, they pounced on it and had it solved within like 3 days. Download the new maps and you should be

Based on reading that entire post, this issue is ONLY for 06 STI's right? (not 06 WRX)...

I've read that before, but my problem is not that. My car boosts to 1 - 1.1 bar like normaly does, but I'll plug in the cobb ap and get the recordings right away. My problem is that i think my boost doesn't go up that fast.

I've measured when I get full boost on 4th gear - 3000 rpm

anyone else measure theirs? (stock or stg 2)

I just installed my AP 2 days ago, and I def. feel the difference over just the TBE. My stock boost gauge is reading .15-.12 and the AP live boost reading is measuring around 17-18.3 (max the ecu can read) in 3rd + gears. I've only seen it show 18.3 once in 4th gear for a breif second before it tapered down to the 17's. Try the newest map, and use the live boost in the AP and see what you are getting. 1st and 2nd shouldnt be boosting that much, but you should def. see around 17+ in 3rd+ gears.

^.15-.12 on stock turbo is boost creeping isn't it?

bad for your car

After i fix the exhaust leak (that I think i have), i'll download the new map over at cobb and try that out.. hopefully my butt dyno will work lol

did you reset the ECU? I noticed that power gain is more noticeable when ECU is reset.
