I just ordered my obd cable today and wanted to know if There is an easy to read realtime display in either the dl1 or ecuexplorer programs? Do these programs, or any other programs, offer some sort of virtual gauge display, or anything like that?
Thanks a lot!

Pretty sure ther isn't, I just used it for the first time last night. Its mostly a table display. Best way to look at the data is probably just importing to Excel and plotting.
Its very easy to use though, and you can't beat free. Thanks to those who have worked on it! The realtime display is just a table view with current/max/min. Also, it appears that there is a limit to how many parameters you can view at once. After a certian amount, it just locked up on me until I unchecked one. I'm no expert though, so this thread will be educational... |

The idea of the DL1 and EcuExplorer is to be a logger and not really a realtime display. It will display realtime values, min and max value also. But what you really want to do is just record and view the logs after. Everything happens so fast in real time and it's really hard to see trends in realtime mode. Just lay the laptop on the passenger side with the lid closed and hit the defog button when you're ready and the hit the button again to close the log. You can pull over and take a look at your pulls or you can make multiple logs and study them when you get home. But DL1 and EcuExplorer aren't great for monitoring while driving. Get a proper set of gauges for that.
