Question STi exhaust for 97 legacy GT

I'm looking for an exhaust for my GT but I'm really not looking for anything intrusive. My biggest concern is getting pulled over by cops for a loud exhaust. I've heard good reviews from the Impreza guys about the STi exhaust. Would it be possible to take the backbox and custom fit the piping for my 97 GT? Do the exhaust hangers match up? Has anyone done this? If it is possibile, this is the route I'd like to go.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

I don't see why not, just hack the pipe off and have a custom exhaust shop put a new one on, and if the hangers dont' match (though they probably do...) have them fix that too...
But as long as you are ging to all this trouble, just get a Magnaflow. Good workmanship, not too loud (in the big oval types) and a lot cheaper. I know a guy with one an a GT, it's great, suits the character of the car perfectly. He's on the board, you can PM him, his screen name is Pleiades.

Just get something like the X-tec XRS muffler or Arospeed "Bomb"... they are tubable for backpressure and sound levels.

Has anyone tried to fit Impreza exhaust onto a Legacy at all?

I'm seriously considering the Prodrive WR Sport (GC8 2.5" fitment one) for the new Leg, but need to know how hard it would be to make it fit.

All help is greatly appreciated.

omahasubaru - FYI, the Impreza muffler doesn't work very well with the Legacy (I tried this myself before w/ a STi muffler). Anyways, hangers don't line up, B-pipe section is way off.

IIRC Brullen (Toronto, Canada) makes a complete cat back stainless steel exhaust for the Legacys. The price is around $500. It can be ordered in 3 different "sound" levels from mild to wild. I am saving up for this cause of the rust factor in Minnesota. For about the price of a STi muffler you could almost get the entire cat back in SS. Of course it isn't STi but the pics I have seen really look sharp!

tahrndt - yup your partially right. Brullen does make them, but they are exclusively made for JCS, TRi Tuning and myself. That price was for a GB of 20 systems.
