Default Mazda RX-8 "EVOLVE" Special Edition for Europe

Mazda RX-8 "EVOLVE" Special Edition for Europe

Quote:
‘EVOLVE’ – THE FIRST SPECIAL EDITION MAZDA RX-8

· First ever Mazda RX-8 Special Edition

· Value for money with enhanced specification

· Same price as standard car with leather

· Exclusivity with just 500 available

Mazda is introducing its first-ever special edition model of the Mazda RX-8 rotary powered four-door sports coupé. Called the ‘Mazda RX-8 Evolve’ the new model is named after the original concept car seen in Detroit in 2000 from which the Mazda RX-8 was developed.

Based on the 231ps high-power version of Mazda RX-8, the Evolve has several unique exterior features. These include a choice of two exclusive colours (Copper Red Mica and Phantom Blue Mica), unique dark silver 18 x 8J alloy wheels, a polished aluminium Rotary crest on the front air dam, dark silver bezel headlamps, sports door mirrors, polished aluminium side air outlet fins, stylish Rotary branded B-pillar trims, chrome exhaust surrounds and ‘Evolve’ badging.

Inside, the Evolve features unique stone leather and Alcantara® sporty seat trim, plus black leather-wrapped steering wheel, gear knob and hand-brake lever.

The revolutionary design of the Mazda RX-8 – with its blend of high-performance, unique rotary engine, sports car dynamics and generous interior space thanks to the 2,700 mm wheelbase and skilful packaging – make it a truly practical four-seater, four-door sports coupé.

The Evolve Special Edition with its enhanced specification is great value for money at £23,900 on-the-road – the same price as a standard Mazda RX-8 (231ps) model with leather trim and impressive resale values.

As well as delivering sensational performance and great value, the Mazda RX-8 Evolve also brings customers a touch of exclusivity. Just 500 units (400 in Copper Red and 100 in Phantom Blue) of this special edition will be available in the UK from later this month.

Mazda RX-8 Evolve is set to build on Mazda's growing reputation as Britain's best loved sports car manufacturer with the Mazda RX-8 voted ‘Best Coupé 2006’ by the influential What Car? magazine last month along with the Mazda MX-5 as Best Open Top. Since launch more than 16,300 RX-8s have been delivered to customers in the UK.

That's a bad-ass interior....not a big RX-8 fan though (at least until they put a decent engine in it).

That's the same "exclusive" color as my wife's Mazda3. Speaking of which, that "unique" rims are also just the enlarged version of the Mazda3's 17 inchers, no?

PERFORMANCE DOES NOT SUCK!!!

Geez, you guys are crazy...and some of you are definitely stuck in a "Subaru is the best" mentality. I have had a WRX and an STi so I know they are both great cars. But I am sorry, the RX-8 is way hotter looking. Mazda actually went outside the box with this car. The WRX/STi is hot but looks like a normal 4 door car. Also, I dont know what kind of performance you are saying it lacks...but not according to Car and driver which put it in the top 10 list again for the 3rd year in a row in the sport coupe class. The engine has won awards and so far has already proven it is more reliable than the 3rd gen rx-7 wankel. It may not beat a WRX or STi in a drag race but sure will do a great job in the twisties or on a road course.

Do some research

RX-8 won this comparison vs. S2000 & 350Z - http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ree/index.html
It beat the 350Z again here as well- http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ree/index.html

I thought subaru enthusiats would know better than any that it isn't always about straight line performance and raw power...it is about the handleing and the way a car feels and drives.

Anyway, /rant

Hot car, not a huge fan of rotary's though, don't know why. I like the interior color too, but I'll bet that'd be a biatch to keep clean :P.

Sounds similar to the "Shinka" special edition that is sold here (US).

I've driven one...Not a whole lot of off-the-line torque, but it's NOT a slow car. In fact, it's very quick...Sometimes a bit of hear thumping action as you accelorate to over 9000RPM on a very smooth power curve. Shifts well, transmission is very slick.....AND it's a comfortable car to drive---seats fit well and your arms and legs flow very well with the interior.

They handle very, very, very well.

I drove my friend's, they do handle very well in stock form. Good linear power band, fun car. Well mannered as a daily driver too. I would love to try it on the track.

On another note regarding the actual topic, too bad it's another limited edition we'll never get here in the US. Any pics of the blue color? I've seen a ton of these things on the road here in socal too, so I know they are selling.

The handling is really good on par or better than the STI but the engine is really an underachiever even tho the rx-8 is light. with 9000rpm clutch drop they got 0-60 in 5.9 which is fine, the bigger problem is real world 5-60 was like 7.6. And another thing I noticed, its about 2-300 lbs heavier than s2k with the same peak hp/torque numbers(it could rev faster than s2k though not sure). That being said I did cross shop it with my wrx before choosing the wrx(wrx being cheaper/probably more reliable being the biggest factor). At the track i think it is faster than a wrx stock to stock still far behind the STI.

isnt this "evolve" just a unique color scheme? come on these 18" polished wheels are the same as the ones they have now, just not as shiny. At least the "shinjuku" (sp?) they had in Japan had more aggressive suspension. But if u r buying on in the UK, a limited edition color for the same price is nice.
RX8 is in mid cycle i think and i hope they do something to liven it up - maybe a new front end or something - it looks fine but something more aggressive maybe

Who cares?

It's fun to drive. That's all that matters in the long run.
