Impreza GC8 2.5 rs wanting sti swap

I am a happy owner of a 2000 rs coupe and was under the impression that the sti motor will drop in and even hook up to my stock tranny. I have a line on an 05 sti motor with 4000 miles for only 2,200 dollars. I just want to know if it will work and if my stock driveline and diffs would be compatible, and able to handle the increased hp load.

several people have succesfully done the RS - STi (EJ257) transplant, but I would strongly suggest using the complete STi drivetrain when doing this (in my honest opinion). the new equipment was designed to handle such a load, and it'll end up more reliable than if you were to use the RS transmission, differentials, etc.. thought about the DCCD system that comes on the STi? it'll be non-existant with the RS transmission and differentials. I say go for it bud, and good luck!

on a second note, be ready for a wiring nightmare

i say do it, and drive it like your grandma till you can afford the real drive line meant for the motor! you'll have fun, and then you'll wet the bed when you're able to reall drive it! -keith

you'll need a lot more than just the motor.
