Default 04STi into 02RS will need help

Ok after nearly two years I belive I have ammassed all the parts I need for my swap. I have a 02 2.5rs and am swaping in a 04STi longblock with all pumps, intake manifold, injectors, came w/exhaust manifold and uppipe, STi ECUw/harness,STi gas peddal and fly by wire throtel setup, all STi sensors and other bits

Parts that are bought:
-vf39
-down pipe and other exhaust bits
-Koyo rad-samco hose's
-FMIC
-Walbro fuel pump
-ACT clutch and fly wheel
-gauges
........PPG tranz to be bought very soon

Im looking for someone who has done a swap,to take a look at the engine I have. So I can find out what lil bits I maybe missing. I live in PA north of Philly. south of Allentown "Quakertown" 18951. Im willing to give you gas $ and food just to look and tell me if Im good so far. Definetly the same if you want to help with the swap, and have SWAP experience.

I only have one question: the reservoir attatched to the top intake manifold-block on the passenger side of the STi and WRX ( I dont have it ) what is it? what is it for? and do I need it?....is it for oil or H20?......if I dont need it can the tubes and hoses be capped or routed back to where ever the need go?

post up on this thread or PM me

this thread is in the Tri-State NASIOC as well

no joke, why are you wasting your money on a dogbox? it's NOT a trans for a daily driver, save your money and baby your trans until you can swap in a 6mt

Not a daily driver....weekend and good weather only..... I have driven a 1-4 straight cut dog box from PPG befor and it aint bad at all just a lil noise

PPG is way stronger than a 6mt by a leaps and bounds, A 6mt is only good to 400whp IMO at the best if U are planing on driving it like your grandma

- PPG tranz will crush a 6mt in the area of power handeling any day of the week
- I did not state a fact about the 6mt either hench the "IMO"
- To do a 6mt swap will cost me just as much in $ and time as a PPG, and the 6mt will be weaker in the end anyway
- I dont want a 6mt in my car
- I never stated how much Hp my car will have down the road

If I wanted your opinions on how I go about building my car, and the parts I put into it I would have asked for them. The fact is I didn't I asked for some hands on help with my build.

Forum gremlins need not post any comments,

so wait, you ask for the help of people who have doen swaps yet when we offer constructive criticism from our OWN personal exerpeices you discount that as we don't know what we are talking about.

and FWIW, a Dogbox is ONLY as strong as the transmissions inhereit design, the 5mt is a weak transmission by design. the 6mt is superior in every way. want a dogbox, put it in a 6mt case. In any case i wish you good luck.

I have done couple of swap.. and I'm about to install 04 sti drive train.. (6spd is already in) into my 02 wrx.. one thing.. ppg dog box is pretty expensive.. i don't know if you got a deal.. from someone.. or from gearboxtech.. think about all the labor of installing the gears. it could cost more than a 6spd..(and you're missing alot of fun w/DCCD) your dccd would be piece of cake to wire since you got all the wiring and everything.. and if you need help on swap pm me

yeah and also there was a 650 whp WRX on stock tranny, diff, and axles sitting in andrews shop so it is just the luck of the draw and the way you drive.

YEs he asked for someones help but you guys just on his post not offering your swap info but you were here to make an ass of yourself when you really dont know what you are talking about with PPG products. So if you feel like offering your 2 cents about the SWAP please feel free but if you feel like bullsh**ing your knowledge please do it somewhere else. it would save your Scooby Guru name by making it look like it is based on knowledge and amount of time you work on subarus not the amount of posting you do sitting in front of your computer NOT WORKING ON YOUR CAR.

Thank you

And it's not just about the strength of the gears. What about the gear ratios the you get with the PPG dogbox? I've seen just a dogbox take 7/10th of a second off someones 1/4 mile time.
