Default Help, LCD console (flip in/out)

I was wondering what is the biggest I can get to replace my stereo system in my wrx. Like would a 7" be nicely fitted? And I need help on the products and where to get them. I would like one that looks nice when it's slided out and when it is flipped in. It would also play dvd's, dvd-rw, dvd-r, cd, cd-rw, cd-r, mp3's (with labels of the soundtrack), and navigation system can be put on, just mainly a Navi(optional, not really neccesary) and dvd with mp3 is fine, but would be great if close to most of the options. Can anyone also hook me up with the links, and pictures? Thank You, StealthfishWRX. Oh, and i forgot, it would be really nice to have it touch screen possible too..THANKS!

alpine 310: can add navigation (blackbird) for 750 MSRP
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1112808803043

pioneer avic n2 built in navigation and eery feature you mentioned then some
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1108124657860

If you don't mind a double din (non slide out, 4x7" screen) then I would go with the 06 pioneer avic Z1. it is the most advanced navigation system out there, and has so many features. this is a pretty insane unit, i cant wait till my store carries it in the spring. MSRP is 2300 i believe, but you can find it online for under 1600

Alpine has a new double din unit coming out "in march" which could be a while. I'm not sure how the new pioneer is, but I've heard that the older one is a great unit, except from the iPod support, which is atrocious, where the new Alpine has a new, slick iPod system. Just wanted to point that out, may matter, may not.

I was referring to the fact that when playing stuff from the iPod, you didn't use the normal pause/play buttons, you use some different buttons. Is this still true? Or have they fixed that?

the d1? no way man, have you read up on the new z1? plus, he wants to play dvds. and if you want to do that on the d1, you need to buy an external dvd drive and run it through an aux input

im 99% sure that was changed. The interface is now built into the unit, and all you need to do is buy a 30 dollar cable... kinda sweet. there is no more lag, it runs as fast as the firmware on the ipod does. But then again, the Z1 also has a built in 30 gig harddrive. So who needs an ipod? 20 gigs is used for navigation, and the other ten you can use at your own disposal.

and I'm not sure if its just alpine that does this, or if pioneer is doing it as well (which i think they are) but ANY mp3 player that is microsoft rated PlaysForSure can becontrolled through the unit, using the supplied usb cable. that means that your rio, iriver, etc can be controlled through the head unit, at full speed. I dont recall if ive seen mention of pioneer having this or not, but im sure alpine does. I think its safe to assume pioneer will have this seeing as the Z1 firmware is the microsoft automotive package
