Default Audi S3 spy shots... ready for a 350 hp small hatchback (RS3)?!?

http://www.thecarconnection.com/Enth...178.A9976.html

Audi has been upgrading the power of most of its range - now, even, its new A3 hatchback. Spotted here is the second generation of the sporting S3. The all-wheel-drive hatchback is undergoing testing with a new 272-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged FSI four-cylinder mated to a six-speed manual or DSG transmission.

Not enough power? Then wait for the RS3 version. If sources are correct, it will be arriving in the not-so-distant-future with a 350-horsepower turbocharged 3.6-liter VR6.

I'd be happy with the 272 HP version

If the price for the RS3 isn't that high, I'll have to get one.

My guess is just about $50k.

If the dynamics were as good as I hear the RS4's are, but in a lighter package, I'd totally hit it! Although I'd really love that RS4's V-8 under there.

Any guesses as to how much the A3 would be?
No way I could afford an RS3

Well, if you go to build and price a "regular" A3 3.2L quattro (w/DSG - This is called their "S-line" package), and add say, a moonroof, you're looking at approx. $37-38K sticker.

A true S-3 would most likely be around the same price since it appears, it will only be a 3door (instead of the 3.2's 5-dr), but w/go-fast bits (susp, brakes, power) all upgraded.

Reasonable to expect then, that an RS3 would at least, be in the range of $42-50K, since it's rumored to be a turbo-6 w/DSG most likely, and other "improved" go-fast bits (all my speculation).

Too much for a 3-door imho...

I really think you are way off on your price estimates.... almost $40 for a reuglar A3 (not even the S3)?!? If true, Audi has just gone off the deep end in terms of pricing their cars - that would be insane. Espesially so, since the A3 is mearly a dressed-up Golf. Atleast I hope you are way off.

How much will an S3 weigh? Is this going to be the smallest 3600lb car ever?

Well, base price is $33,980 (not including options), $37,350 to add sunroof and bi-xenon headlamps (incl. destination) - you can go to audiusa.com and do a build/price for yourself on the S-line 3.2 quattro DSG:

http://www.audiusa.com/configurator_...style=a3sedan#

I hope I'm way off on my guesstimates as well (as that's all they are except for the 3.2 quattro), but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Audi prices them that high.

Of course, there's always the Caliber SRT (300HP awd) which should list for under 30K, heh:

Nevermind, I thought the rs3 would be around the 30-40k range if it's over that i'll keep the evo, thanks.

The regular S3 was at the DC auto show, 250 hp, 38K, not worth it for me. RS3 would be nice, but probably very expensive.

By the time a 5-door RS3 hits these shores, I should be ready.

We may never see a 3 door A3 let alone a S3 or RS3, they just are not selling enough to justify the cost of US certification.

My 2.0turbo A3 was $31725 MSRP and worth every penny. If they brought the RS3 here I would consider trading

heres mine with a few mods

Audi has never made an RS3 to date, and I didn't think the RS3 was even close to testing. Maybe your talking about the old S3?? Those are neat cars.
