Default It's that time again...! Austin HH

Well, since we'll have a new WRX in town on Saturday, and we'll let Brian show off his new APS Stage 1, I think it's time for a happy hour.

So let's go for the wednesday tick again, that's a good day for me (and Holden... since he prefers it too). Next week, wednesday.

I vote for Ski Shores. It's a little place on Lake Austin. Take 2222 West (from 360), turn left on City Park Rd. and then follow the signs. It's a little ways down there. The drive is AWESOME down there, even with the patches of gravel and the occasional pothole.
Has good selection of brews, burgers, chicken fingers (good), shrimp and more fish stuff.

Anyone else??

I may be up for it, but thats quick a drive, no mistaking a FUN drive, but a drive nonetheless. I need to cut back on mileage, seeing I have 18000 in less than 9 months. Any way I'll let Y'ALL know later on.

As usual, count me in as a definite maybe. I'm supposed to have soccer practice Wednesday nights, but I haven't gone to one in ages.

Ski Shores was just a suggestion, we don't have to go there by any means. I'm just kinda addicted to the drive there

Oh, Marty, called Cobb today and talked to them about the pink STi springs, and they said they work well with the stock struts. Just in case you want to drop and steady your ride a bit. Once I get some extra cash (after the stereo install) I think I'm going to get them. More than likely have either Austin Subaru or Cobb install and give me an alignment too at the same time.

Just DIY, springs aren't that hard to install.

If you're doing springs and are planning new struts or mounts in the future, do them all at once. It's better than having to rip apart the strut each time.

Did you get any price quotes on spring installs? I'd imagine it costs as much as a whole suspension install, which may be up there near the cost of the springs themselves.

Well, for the time being, I'm going to stick with springs only. I called Cobb and they said they are working on getting some WRX struts to combo with them, but they are still in "development".

Actually, after the sway bar I feel pretty confident about DIY First time working on cars... now computers, been doing that since I was 10.. I'm now 23 hahaha

I should be there..wherever we plan on 'there' being. Id be interested in seeing your car when you get the springs on steve. After putting on my wheels Ive got a hell of a gap on the front of the car...i'd like to remedy that. After the S-AFC & turbo upgrade of course

Mannn, I'm now 23 too.. I feel so old! (I just turned 23 on Saturday).

I did my springs after my strut bar, maybe it's just some sort of natural progression.

If you want a real pain the butt challenge, install whiteline heavy duty strut bar mounts on an RS... that's really annoying.

I would like to see how those springs look too. I called the guys at Ground Control/Eibach yesterday and they were telling me about their adjustable spring kit for the WRX. They said it retails for about $400. Then I spoke to my friend yesterday that has a highly modified Type R and he said that unless you spend more than 1K on a suspension for the WRX you are downgrading because the WRX has such a good stock set-up. What do yall think?

Oh yea, I am going to try and make it to where ever yall want to meet next week. How about Baby A's on 35... they got the best drinks and chips and salsa?

Baby A's on 35? Where's that? Do you mean the one on Riverside? Like I said I should be up for anything.

Default Baby A's

It is around 35 and 183. A little further South than that on the West Side of 35.

I think it is nicer than the one on Riverside and it definately has more parking.

I was a little unimpressed with the Baby A's on Barton Spring, and Shady Grove's salsa is the bizzomb

Well, since the last HH was south, let's do a northern region this time. There's NXNW, El Arroyo on Far West, Baby A's on 35/183, Chili's on 183/Burnett, Waterloo on Burnett.

You northen people make a decision, I'm up for anything.

Ok, let's go with NXNW on wednesday at 7:30ish.

North by Northwest is by the Lexus dealer, REI, Cap of Texas highway area (a little past 183 on mopac) That's the best directions I have...

Be there or be square.

I don't have fond memories from NXNW. I was carded there last year after I moved here and was denied because my out of state ID "seemed kind of fishy" to the manager. They claimed about the expiration date, which was 2043. That's perfectly correct for an Arizona ID, they expire when you're 65. They also rejected my friend's NY ID, and he's older than me.

And of course I got one of those famous a-hole bartender lines when he came back from "talking with his manager"... "If it was up to me I'd serve you, but my manager thinks it's fishy... I'm sorry guys."

If it were up to him, then he wouldn't have gone and asked the freakin' manager in the first place. But that's my rant, don't mind me. Otherwise it seems like a yuppie bar to me, but I haven't been there since that night.
