Default Buying from a guy in the Private Wanted forums, but he doesn't do paypal. Options?

I've always used paypal in the past and have never had problems with it. The guy I'm looking at buying from though, doesn't deal with them. Would you have any reservations about this? He's in Canada - I don't really want to send a personal check through the mail, if that can be avoided.

WWOTD?

Does he have any feedback? Best thing to do would have him ship first, if he doesn't have feedback. It's his fault he doesn't use paypal, and he shouldn't make you have reservations beacause of it.

Don't buy from him, that simple.

People should know that no matter how much they suck, PayPal is the accepted standard in on line payment. I personally can't stand PayPal, but it is what it is.

If my bar decided to stop accepting Credit Cards, we know we'd lose business. He should know this, he meaning the seller.

You're going to tell me that you never send a check through the mail?

I dont' see the big deal. Paypal won't protect you, lol. It's just as vulnerable as sending him cash.

Only thing I don't like using paypal for is if I'm selling a vehicle on ebay. I will usually take the down by Paypal, but the majority of it I want in cash. I don't like the fees.

Postal money order. Not really different from a personal check but it won't have any of your personal info on it.

Either that or stuff some Monopoly money in an envelope.

Am I the only one that remembers life pre-PayPal? Do a check or money order, it's not that big of a deal.

So question... If I send a money order/check, what's the usual order of things? Should I send the payment first, then when he gets it, he ships the UP to me? Or vice-versa?

send payment and he ships. I've done half a dozen deals this way for small amounts of money and never gotten screwed. YMMV.
