The Honda Civic Si Sedan Concept
Inspiration comes in many forms, and now the car that ushered in the modern sport-compact era comes with the comfort and convenience of four doors. It's the Civic Si Sedan Concept, and it will redefine the world of sport sedans with the fall 2006 release of the production model.

The Civic Si began with a simple concept: engage the driver with performance never before experienced in a car of this type. Twenty years later, the technology may have been updated, but the thought remains the same. The Civic Si is accessible performance for those who love to drive.

There are a ton of questions that will be answered in the coming weeks and months with regard to this exciting new release. To make sure you're on track with the latest information, we invite you to sign up for e-mail updates that will keep you current with the most relevant, timely information.

A close ratio 6-speed manual transmission
A helical-type limited slip differential
18-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels
225/40ZR18 high performance tires

Honda Civic Si Sedan Concept Unveiled at Chicago Auto Show

CHICAGO 02/08/2006 -- The Civic Si Sedan Concept is making its debut at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.

The Civic Si Sedan Concept provides strong hints of the styling and performance for a production Civic Si Sedan scheduled to go on sale this fall, marking the first time that "Si" performance has become available in the Civic Sedan. Similar to the recently introduced Civic Si Coupe, the production Civic Si Sedan will serve as another performance leader for the Civic line-up with a 197-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC engine with an 8,000 rpm redline, mated to a close-ratio, 6-speed manual transmission. Helping to put all that power to the ground is a helical-type, limited slip differential for improved traction and cornering performance.

The Civic Si Sedan Concept features custom 18-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels, 225/40ZR18 high-performance tires, and 4-wheel disc brakes with large cross-drilled brake rotors and 4-piston Brembo calipers.

"The Civic Si Sedan Concept demonstrates how the high-performance attributes of the Civic Si Coupe can be directly applied to the functionality of a sedan," said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda.

A production vehicle based on the Civic Si Sedan Concept will go on sale this fall. The 2007 Civic Si Sedan will mark a further evolution of Civic Si's sixth generation alongside the Civic Si Coupe - and will be the first time a Civic Si is available in two body styles. The Civic Si first appeared in 1986 with subsequent Civic Si models appearing in 1989, 1992, 1999 and 2002.

The Civic Si Concept (coupe version) made its debut at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show, preceding the introduction of the all-new 2006 Civic Si, Civic Hybrid, Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe. The Civic Si Coupe and Civic Si Sedan will both complement the Civic lineup with features designed to appeal to true enthusiasts seeking a high level of performance and value.

The all-new 2006 Honda Civic has attracted a high level of acclaim, including Motor Trend magazine's prestigious 2006 Car of the Year award and the 2006 North American Car of the Year award.

Too late to the game in my opinion.
Honda left their fans high and dry for the last 5 years.

They really need to stop fooling around, step up to the plate, and bring Type R spec cars here once again.

And if it's anything worth noting, is anyone sick of the high beltline look yet?
If so, you can thank all of the SUVs on the road for that one.

the one thing i hate about the 06 civic SI is the horrible accord tail... its a freakin accord! the front end is really nice. still wrong wheel drive, but nice car.

i like that rear end so much more. its more civicky, not accordy

I really like it. Like, I would seriously consider it as my next vehicle. I'd ditch the wing, but otherwise it looks amazing.

It just looks so flat and plain. I'm not saying that it needs a widebody kit and air inlets all over the place, but it's just flat sheetmetal all around. It looks more like a regular Honda Civic EX sedan with some VIS body kit rather than an aggressively styled Civic Si sedan. Any word on pricing premiums (over the Si coupe) and performance losses (once again compared to the Si coupe)?

basically more weight i think over the coupe but overall better balance since there is more weight in the back.
i think the Si sedan should be made stealthier than the Si coupe - and use that to give ppl the option

i agree fully. honda denounced any support to the motorsports going on here in the states when honda's were the name of the game.. now they're doing all these stuff just to get some fans back... sorry honda im a subie fan now.

I thought that the tail end looks more like the Legacy's rear end not the accord's (hyundia already does a good job of that). Honda just took the Legacy's tail and did a little work to make it the civics.

I dunno..I'm no Honda expert

I like it. Probably still a blast to drive (you don't have to have 300hp/tq to have fun). It'd be a good compliment to my car, and Wifey would probably drive it like she stole it.

I like the styling and the interior is awesome! I had a chance to test drive the regular EX and I fell in love with the dash. Can't believe it was a Honda!

Only 31lbs more... 1.2% heavier.

No.. the coupe is the 06 Si.. this sedan is just a concept. That's why he said he likes the look of the concept more.

=

That huge rump is hideous. It looked bad on the previous Civic Coupe and it looks just as bad on the new Si. The sedan looks very nice.

As for cars looking like other cars.. it's called evolution. Unlike biology, there are no incompatible species to keep things separate in car design. Every car on the road looks like another car on the road in some way and we can trace it right back to the Model T and Karl Benz's horseless carriage. You can't say that Honda just took the Legacy's tail without first considering that Subaru took a large portion of the Legacy's current looks straight out of Honda's book. At least Honda isn't 'stealing' BMW's dogleg C-pillar.
