Question Ya, got a set of Nokian WR's, MPG has gone down!? What's yours?

Hi ALL!
I just had to put a set of Nokian WR's on my '97 GT Legacy Wgn. I hit a Pothole, destroyed my rear pass rim and my Hakka 1. It's seems that my MPG has gone down (just judging by the needle for now) !? I've only got 250 miles on them. Maybe it's a break in thing! Anyone else have a set of these on? What's your milage? I had a 4 wheel alignment done, and I'm running 35 PSI in all four corners, they are the same 205/55/16 size. I had 4 Hakka 1's before, so I know what my winter milage is supposed to be!
Many Thanks, SubeeTed

that might be a figment of your imagination. are you driving identically to before? same highway / back road ratio? same fuel?

oh, and i dont think all 4 tire pressures are supposed to be =.
might want to check that out too.

FWIW, I did a rough calculation. I'm getting ~25Mpg on my new hakka 2's (with winter fuel)

After only 250mi I can't imagine you have enough reliable data to accurately determine your fuel mileage.

Some tires like different tire pressures. Have you tried a higher pressure? A lower pressure? While running the higher and/or lower pressure, have you run through a few tanks of gas to determine a somewhat accurate mileage trend?

True, the tire pressure recommendation is something like 32F/29R. If you want your car to handle like a wet noodle, feel free to run those pressures. If you want to tune the handling and ride of your car the way you like it, then there's no reason to think you need to run mismatched F/R tire pressures. I've run equal tire pressures for as long as I've had the car - it most definitely balances the handling of the car.

I didn't notice any difference with my hakka q's. I think I run mine closer to 38 psi

Bad fuel economy - consider the properties of "winter gas" - also the grippier a tire, the more it sticks to the road, thus overall friction goes up.

You'd get great fuel economy from a set of skates (slippery tires) because it takes less momentum to keep them turning on the road. Part of the theory anyway.

Anyway, I reckon it's because of winter gas. My fuel economy is less now than it was during summer - and I've replaced my air filter, and both O2 sensors.

I just had a major tuneup done so we'll see what I get out of this first tank. Not lookin' good so far, but the damn fuel gauge drops like a rock no matter what so who knows.

Anyone else have a prob with the fuel gauge dropping quickly and then slowing down towards the end of the tank? Previous owner said its always done that

mines the opposite way...from F to half tank...if im lucky, i might hit like 150. then from half tank to E, it drops like hell. over all i get like 22-24 miles w/slight sideways abuse in snow! :P
